GIVE FRANCIS A RAISE!!!!!
We had an awesome fam dinner at Louie's Wine Dive Des Moines. We had one diner with celiac disease, which makes finding places a challenge. We were happy to learn that this place is mostly GF or, at least, most dishes can be made GF.
Squeaky Cheese Curds & Not-So-Standard Potato Chips apps: curds were ok, but we loved the chips! The spicy dipping sauce was 🔥 and the chips were just a fun shareable app. Curds weren’t “squeaky” cheese and were exceptionally greasy....read full review
Great visit! I was so happy about all of the gluten-free options. This was the best meal I've had at a restaurant for as long as I can remember. I'm Celiac (diagnosed 27 years ago), and I LOVED that I could order almost anything from the menu. Much love to this place, and I will make the 1.5 hr trip back with my husband very soon

Louie's Wine Dive is a restaurant that offers a unique dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere and both indoor and outdoor seating options. The menu features a variety of dishes, including the Squeaky Cheese, Chicken Piccata, and Filet De Burgo. Customers appreciate the many gluten-free options, with menu modifications clearly indicated. The food is consistently good, whether it is a basic dish or something more adventurous. Guests enjoy the delicious food and great drinks, especially the cocktails. Live jazz music on certain nights enhances the charm of the place. Some visitors wish for more daily specials and variety, as the offerings can feel limited for frequent diners. The service is generally attentive, with some servers receiving high praise for their incredible service. However, some mention that the kitchen can be a bit slow at times, though this is not a regular issue. The baked goat cheese remains a popular happy hour appetizer, but some find the pita triangles small and wish for more customer-friendly service. Overall, Louie's Wine Dive remains a good choice for those seeking a cozy spot with tasty food, good drinks, and live music.
