Generally, employees are friendly and helpful. Yesterday, though, there were only two lanes open and both were slow, so I had to use a self-check station. All the available ones were locked and I had to get someone to unlock it. The young woman who unlocked it was annoyed that I didn't know that "It's always been that way". My favorite Hy-Vee on the east side for prepared foods. It's older than the Waterfront Hy-Vee, which is our go-to for Aisles Online orders. The 1st Ave. location has a nostalgic feel to it; kind of like the Johnson Ave. location in Cedar Rapids. Recommend if you don't want to have to prepare dinner. They have so much. So much that some portions of the store seemed tight to navigate through. Parking lot can be cramped. They have an Iowa City Public Library return box.
