Kindred Coffee is a favorite coffee shop in the Iowa City area, known for sourcing very high quality beans and putting effort into the brewing process. The Granola latte tasted like a hug, and the coffee is well made. The food is all gluten free and very delicious, and the shop has THE best matcha lattes, made perfect every time without being watery. The environment is very clean, with plants, good music that is not too loud, and a variety of seating including stools, tables, couch, and comfy chairs. There is also a free take a mug, leave a mug program, and a reusable container program, though don't expect straws. The baristas remember names and show they care about customers. However, some chairs by the window are super uncomfortable and bend back, while standard chairs are narrow, making it hard for wide hips. There are very few outlets and the noise can be overwhelming. Overall, the coffee is great and affordable, but it is not a cozy spot to sit and work—take it to go unless the bustle is enjoyed.
