“First time here. Waitress said breakfast menu is brand new so no recommendations but said taste tests said all was good. So we tried chicken and waffles and yeti bites. One yeti bite order with sausage with a side of hash brown and one order with bacon. My daughter said the hash browns were really good and loved her yeti bites. I loved the yeti bites! No syrup needed as the waffles are sweet. Great flavors and perfectly cooked (over easy in my order). Husband said chicken and waffles were good. Staff was friendly and definitely took the time and attention to make sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. I would recommend and plan to return!”

“I've never had their coffee before they were set up in evansdale. I walked up when they were closing up and didn't even realize. They were super sweet and asked what I would like. Incredible India isn’t just about the delicious, authentic food—it’s about the heart behind it. The butter chicken was rich and tender, the naan soft and flavorful, and everything was perfectly spiced and generously portioned. But what truly sets this place apart is the couple who run it. I originally stopped by to return $6 to Sonia after realizing she’d overpaid for some marigold seeds that she purchases from me for my daughters France trip. She wasn’t there, so I gave it to her husband—who double-checked with her, only for Sonia to insist the extra was for my daughter’s trip. Then, instead of just giving me the bread I ordered, they gifted me the butter chicken and basmati rice just to make sure I’d come back. Sonia guaranteed if I tried the butter chicken that I'd be back. The warmth and generosity here is just as comforting as their food. We’re already planning our return visit with the whole family!”

“Everything tasted good. Scones were fresh. Flavored coffee was great, tid bit too sweet for my taste. I was told they make their own syrup. It wasn't truly clear if it is from scratch, or they simply put their twist on the syrup they buy. The atmosphere is fairly basic and nothing that stands out. Service was great as well.”

“Our recent trip to Waterloo was topped off by a fantastic dining experience at D&K Hickory House restaurant. Thanks to a Google search of nearby restaurants, we stumbled on this "hidden treasure", and we're absolutely blown away. From the fast and courteous service by Cindy, our amazing server, to the final farewell from the owners daughter ( sorry, I didn't catch her name), this place hit it out of the park. My wife and I ordered salads with bleu cheese dressing, and were expecting the standard, generic dressing that attempts to taste like the real thing..WOW, were we wrong!! What we received was a homemade dressing with big chunks of real bleu cheese in a tangy-sweet mixture that left us wanting more. When I commented to Cindy, that it was the best I had tasted, she suggested we try the creamy garlic, also homemade, and she brought us a sample to try...another Home Run !!. When our entrees arrived, which was surprisingly quick for a Saturday night, we were again, incredibly impressed. I had the rib dinner, with hash browns. The ribs were tender, tangy, and literally falling off the bone. As a BBQ junkie, I was in 7th Heaven. My wife opted for the fried shrimp and they were cooked to perfection. The meals also came with choice of potato, a basket with dinner rolls and crackers, and a small relish tray...all very tasty . When Cindy brought our bill, she offered us a brief history of the place, and it sounds like citizens of Waterloo/Cedar Falls have been enjoying this local joint for over 70 years...very impressive. All in all, this was one of the highlights of our visit, and we will be sure to return again, the next time we are in the area. Two things to consider before visiting, they take cash & check only...no electronic payment...no problem...and, you would be wise to call first for reservation.. Truly a memorable meal and dining experience. 5 stars all around !!”

“Huge, over stuffed California burrito which I learned means french fries inside. Lots of steak in the burrito as well. Basic tables and chairs nothing fancy. Pretty good tomatilla and red sauce.”
