“I happened to be in Marshalltown Friday evening and decided to bring Opa home for supper for my family. I stopped in and the waiter who helped me was so friendly and nice! I ordered my husband the Gyro, his favorite, and my daughter got the kid’s pasta with red sauce. I ordered the grilled chicken kabobs and chose the chicken with rice soup, that soup is amazing!! Everything was delicious even after driving home 40 minutes away! We will definitely be back and I will be ordering a couple to go bowls of the soup to take to work for lunches!!”

“I am glad I decided to try Taylor’s Maid-Rite while I was in town from Dallas, Texas. I am prone to gravitate to small local eateries....and it is evident this is a gathering place for locals. If you are looking for AMAZING food, EXCELLENT service, and a GREAT relaxing atmosphere... Taylor’s Maid-Rite is worth checking out!! It is definitely on my "go back" list when I'm in the Marshalltown, Iowa area again!!”

“My husband and I love boutique inns, and since our birthdays were on either side of our nieces wedding last weekend, we chose the Tremont.

The owners are very gracious, and very honest. The flight of stairs up to the rooms is steep, and I have knee issues, but there are handrails on both sides and since there were never crowds of people entering or leaving at the same time, it was fine.

The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The bathrooms are modern and they supply high quality, sustainable bath products. (We were upgraded to a king room, which was super sweet.) The bed was firmer than I’m used to, but the pillows were so great that I slept well every night.

We ate at Tremont on Main our first night, arriving just before they closed the kitchen. The food was fantastic and the service impeccable.

We had breakfast at the Tremont Grille most of the days we were in town. Super convenient to get my morning espresso fix and again, the staff was awesome. They even made us breakfast even though we arrived later than their typical hours.

Both restaurants feature jazz and Great American Songbook background music, which is very relaxing.

I’m a huge proponent of “think global, buy local” and was so happy to support a local business.

(Their overview mentions that they’re LGBTQ friendly, and even though we’re straight, we try to support inclusive businesses. )”

“I ordered the jasmine tea, sushi/sashimi platter with miso soup and a spicy yellow fin roll. The sashimi was really good. The sushi rice however tasted like it was not seasoned very much. Instead they just used the starch they didn't finish washing off to stick it together. The miso soup was lacking flavor from the broth. But overall the service was fantastic. They were very polite and the food we ordered came fresh and fast. My wife ordered shrimp lo mein. The noodles were cooked just fine and the seasoning was good. But there was one weird thing. It tasted like they velveted the shrimp. If shrimp is cooked properly, you don't need to velvet them. Remember C is cooked O is overcooked. ? But I would eat there again considering it's hard to find decent sashimi near me. If you're in Marshalltown, give it a try.”

“Neighborhood bar that has pool tables, jukebox. Owner retired from local factory and has kept his doors open, even when things weren't going good for factory workers..

Parking: Gravel parking lot , plenty of parking..over flow goes to street.”

“While the outside leaves a bit to be desired, the ice cream MORE than makes up for it. It is absolutely the best in town. The last year they’ve added more new flavors and have such great combinations. We most often do a mixed quart of the daily flavor. You will not be disappointed. ☺️”

“I stopped at Lara’s yesterday for the first time, and was greeted with wonderful smells and beautiful smiles! The staff was very, very kind. I told one of the girls I’d never been in before, and she proceeded to show me everything on display. All of the yummy baked goods and pastries are huge, and the prices are very very reasonable! I left with 7 treats and only paid $9.50. Awesome quality, astounding service, a joy to have in Marshalltown!”

“Authentic Mexican in Iowa? Who would have guessed! We live in Texas, where good street tacos are prized. Maria's are as good as any I've had at home or in Mexico City. The posole was flavorful, and husband said the burrito was five star. Homemade horchata was best I've had anywhere. Every time we come to Marshalltown for family, Maria's is a must stop. Don't expect a fancy restaurant. It's window service from an old house, and you eat at picnic tables on the enclosed front porch or outside. But every Texan knows the best Mexican food comes from a hole-in-the-wall joint.”

“When this store first opened, I did not like it as much as the older Little Caesar's in the K-mart. It seemed like they skimped a bit on the sauce and cheese. After the K-mart closed, this store is the only option so I would still occasionally get pizzas there, but never with much enthusiasm.Fortunately, this store has really seemed to turn around! The last few orders I have placed, always for a custom pizza and not a hot-n-ready pizza, have been excellent.Keep making the pizzas great and I will keep coming back for more! Thanks!”

“I dined here years ago one time, & this was my 2nd visit. I am following a keto plan, & was able to have the Legend's burger with no bun, well done, with a condiment cup of dill pickles, & broccoli instead of fries. It fell within my plan & was delicious. Our waitress Hannah was excellent, & very kind. 5⭐️
My only issue was that the bathroom door lock/doorknob is broken, so hopefully they'll change the knob soon.
Overall it was a great lunch. Very pleased.”

“Was coming through Marshalltown and wanted to stop for lunch. Headed to DQ because that’s always fun to enjoy. The folks at the S. Center St DQ were friendly and upbeat - something you don’t always see in the restaurant business. Lacey was great at the front counter; our food came out fresh and hot, it was great! The manager and employees greet customers while their dining and ask if they need anything. I can tell that their mission is serving people. It really shows in the culture. Would recommend 👍🏼”

“Every time we go to Perkins it's very friendly, great service and we never wait very long for our drinks or food. The food is very hot and has great flavors that's honestly makes me over stuff myself. That's ok though, because the pie and great atmosphere makes for a great meal, a great evening, I'd even call it a date night. Just like to say thank you to all of the staff, for making my life easier and for making me feel like I am at home. Keep up the great service all of you!”

“Food was great and service was great. I ordered a cheese free pizza and they were great about making it and put plenty of toppings on it for me which most places don't but they did. They also put it in a to go box because no one wants that! No other place has ever done that and i appreciate that!!!

“I struggled between a three-star and four star review, so treat this as 3.2 or 3.5 stars. I also intend this as a general review of any Culver's. I've eaten there three times when visiting because so many of my Midwest relatives think it's the bee's knees. It's certainly a better call than McDonald's or Burger King, but I don't think their "famous" custard is anything special, and their food is fine, nothing special. I will say their fish is pretty good, but the tartar sauce is terrible. It's like mayonnaise with a couple of spots of pickle. I'd rather have something from a jar. Their Butter Burgers and their fries are fine as well. Every time I've eaten there, I've left with that sort of gut bomb feeling, but that's to be expected with most fast food I suppose. So if you've run a marathon or bucked some hay and need some serious fat calories, this will probably taste pretty good. Or if you're traveling and need a better option than traditional burger chains, this is a half step up. Other than that, I'd go for a pizza or some tacos.”
