“This was our first time eating here. We drove down from Nebraska today to go exploring and see the covered bridges of Madison County and found the Hitchin’ Post to eat dinner! Great atmosphere, friendly people and awesome service and food! Thanks so much Hitchin’ Post Grill! If your in the area, it’s a definite stop for great food and service! Give it a try you will not be disappointed!“

“Driving back to Denver from Chicago, this spot was recommended by a gal at my hotel. Rolled over to the moose late on a Monday and found myself at the bar. Struck up some great conversations with the bar tender and a few locals. Really appreciated the friendly and divey atmosphere. I would definitely come back if I am in Des Moines again.“

“Nick’s is always a win! If you’re there, you are family. The staff truly cares that your experience is spectacular. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is top-notch. Twice a month I meet up with a wonderful friend to sit at the bar, eat some snacks, and enjoy a bourbon or martini while she drinks wine. Even with the rarity of my visits, the bartenders treat me like a regular and work to get to know me. You cannot match the level of service! I typically stay for a short amount of time, eat while I’m there, and also take food home for my high school aged children. The to go food is always perfectly packaged and delicious even if it sits on the counter for a bit while we finish our conversation and settle bills. I cannot recommend Nick’s enough. I almost hate to post this review and ruin the truly beautiful experience.“

“This is your standard downtown hotel bar / lounge, However, the service here is polite, fast, and attentive - while the food is honestly amazing. Get the burger and fries, hands down the best burger I've had in years and the fries were even better. I believe they cook the fries in animal fat which adds a crispiness like no other. Decent selection of beers, wines and a full bar with a clean and spacious interior round this place out. In my 20 years of business travel I have never experienced a Hotel Lounge like this“

“We had pizza and chinese food, everything was fresh and the pizza toppings were cut right in front of us. The only disappointment is market grille has been replaced by wahlburgers, which was pricey for us at the time b(and I really wanted a burger initially).“

“The floral shop!! So impressed today on how they have it set-up and decorated for Valentines Day. Someone is real creative and they show so many good ideas for Valentine’s. Talked with Lory, so sweet and very helpful even as busy as she was.“
“First time coming here - family brought me and I was blown away by the choices on the menu. No one walked away hungry and there were several to-go boxes. Service was excellent and we had no wait for our table of 6. I'd come back in a heartbeat.“
“Hello, I wanted to recognize the staff of the Chinese buffet at the above location. They had very good patience with me and my confusion of their menu. They accommodated my requests and the gentlemen, two asian men, did an excellent job in taking my order and taking care of my dinner. “My favorite Fast and Fresh. When the Fast and Fresh across from Bucs arena said their kitchen was closed, the gentlemen at the Merle Hay Fast and Fresh said "we'll make it". I go there all the time and I have never had a bad experience!“
