We couldn't be happier with our experience working with Great Caterers of Iowa for our wedding. From start to finish, the team was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They took the time to truly listen to what we were looking for and delivered a meal that exceeded all of our expectations and at an unbeatable price per place. For the quality of the food, service, and presentation we received, the value is truly unmatched.

On the day of the wedding, everything went off without a hitch. The food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious and we had so many guests comment on how much they enjoyed the meal. The meats were especially well-cooked and flavorful, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the preparation and execution.

The team was also fantastic to work with when it came with logistics and dietary accommodations. They made sure guest with restrictions had the right meal. And their serving staff was exceptional, so friendly, efficient, and professional. They helped everything run smoothly and created such a great atmosphere for guests.

We're so grateful to have had this team be a part of our wedding. They played a big role in making our day so special, and we would recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone planning a wedding or big event! Thank you!

These guys are truly amazing! They really listen to you and make compromises and get you what you want while also making sure the food is still top tier. I had SO MANY guest compliments, and we were able to take leftovers home with us after the wedding (now we have lunch for a year, lol) they made sure everything was perfect, the chef checked on us multiple times during our wedding to make sure everything was good. He even cut the cake for us. If we ever have another big event, its great caterers all the way!

I had Great Caterers of Iowa cater my wedding and felt very compelled to give a review when almost every single guest talked about how amazing our wedding food was. Even my brother who has always been competitive with me said “you just had to out do me on wedding food”. They were extremely professional and took care of what could’ve been the biggest stressor for me. Would recommend over and over again.

They only provided me with half of the food I ordered. I didn’t have enough food for my wedding party. When asked if they could discount for their lack of responsibility, they took no responsibility and didn’t care to discount us at all. Will not be using again.

We had the pleasure of working with Great Caterers of Iowa back in January for a wedding we coordinated. We were not shocked to learn they were a preferred vendor at the venue we utilized. They came right in and got straight to work and served the food hot and on time. Bonus it was delicious! We highly recommend them for weddings!

We used Great Caterers for an end of year holiday corporate event and they were amazing! The food was fabulous, everything from appetizers, dinner, and dessert was perfect and our guests were raving about it. We had a specific schedule and they helped us pull off our party exactly how we wanted it and I will be keeping them in mind for the future!

Each dish was a hit, and we loved being able to enjoy leftovers for days after the wedding. My mom even remarked, “All this food tastes like something your grandma would make,” and there’s no higher compliment than that!

GCOI catered our family style June 2024 wedding. Everything from the passed appetizers to main dishes was so tasty. The staff was attentive and did a great job distributing the food quickly to our large number of guests on a very, very hot day. The quality and value of the food was amazing — we served salmon, beef tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes and Italian green beans. The mashed potatoes were a crowd favorite!

Great Caterers of Iowa provided food & water glasses for our June 15, 2024, wedding and we were so happy with how they did! Joni was easy to work with throughout the entire process, and most importantly, the food was PHENOMENAL on the wedding day! We got tons of compliments about how delicious everything tasted. The pork loin and chicken were moist and tender, and the pesto pasta stole the show. We would highly recommend GCI to cater your next big event!

Great Caterers of Iowa didn't ruin our wedding reception, but they sure tried. There was a noticeable difference between the food we tried at the tasting and the under-seasoned slop they brought to our reception. Combine that with the fact they weren't ready on time, so we had 100 guests milling around with no appetizers, no drinks, nothing. Finally, the caterers brought out 20 appetizers for 100 people. I had to stop visiting with our guests to get after the caterers to do their jobs. One of the catering staff did tell me that the problem was that there was more than one reception going on at the venue (Scottish Rite) and they had delivered all of our food to the other reception. Eventually, everyone got appetizers, but it was embarrassing.
The food at the tasting was extremely good, but what was delivered was sloppy, under-seasoned, and just average at best. I will say that the bruschetta was excellent at both the tasting and the reception. That's about the only good thing I can say for this caterer. Our wedding planner was upset with the caterers, reached out to the management after our reception and was told "they had done nothing wrong".
Avoid using this business.
Update in response to the owner's response. I was there, you were not. I'm sure your employees told you that they did everything correctly, but we sat there for fifteen minutes before 20 appetizers came out. The food was not nearly as good as you seem to think it was. There was a massive difference between what we got at the tasting and what you delivered.
I didn't bring up the issue with the bar because I understand that was on the wedding planner, not you. I was disappointed that your employees asked both my wife and I for payment when we had prepaid for everything. Overall I wouldn't recommend your company to anyone.
