This is the best Mexican food I have ever had. Huge portions, fresh veggie, and meats. Very friendly service. We will definitely be back.
It is authentic, family own and operated restaurant. Food is very flavorful, freshly made, never out of the box. That's includes tortillas, salsas and guacamole. The Fresh Guacamole is our favorite dip for chips along with home made salsa!

Hidalgo Mexican Bar and Grill Urbandale offers big servings of food with friendly and fast service. The chips and salsa are fresh and flavorful. The chorizo queso is rich, cheesy, and seriously addictive. The birria tacos are the standout — tender, packed with flavor, and sides of onion and cilantro. The consomme sauce is delicious as well. For big eaters, the California burrito with carnitas is delicious. The Hildago Molcajete is huge, temperature hot, with layers of different stuff, fantastic. Tacos Al Pastor and the hot dip are awesome. Drinks are beautiful with flowers, and strawberry margaritas are available with happy hour specials. Service is excellent from start to finish, with staff going above and beyond. The place is very clean with lots of TVs, plenty of seating, and a small outdoor patio. Mexican pop/rock music plays on the speakers. The food is fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The restaurant is reasonably priced with great Mexican beer on tap.
