“The food was good but your bartender connie was very rude. She seemed to be drinking a lot and agitated when we asked for anything. I guess I feel when you come to a place you want to feel welcome and have fun. we felt we were more of a hassle for her to help or be friendly. Definitely don't want her to wait on us again.”
“Sadly don’t recommend. Really wanted to support a small local business but the chicken and then the beef was so dried out and hard as a rock. I couldn’t even bite into my chicken wrap and wish I would have taken a picture. I’m not sure how the cooks would have missed such overcooked hard dried up chicken. For spending $55 while there I would have expected better quality food.”

“Granted its a few blocks from my house but so glad they are here in town. Love the chorizo nachos and the selection of beers. Huge fan of New Vienna but like that theres a few other options now and then too, with plenty of domestic fallbacks when ”
“Got to this town a little too early for an event, figured I would stop for a beer. Very clean, staff was very friendly. Very nice little small town bar. Would stop at again. I did not rate food because I did not want food, nor did I ask if they had ”

“I love this winery. Very good wine and a variety of sweets and drys. The service is always top notch and you can tell the attendants know what their talking about. The space is clean, spacious and cute. The $10 wine tasting is fulfilling and leaves you filling a buzz. Their wine in general is very tasty and will satisfy any palet.”
“Great experience today, owner shared his wine and vast knowledge.. what an incredible tasting. I wouldn't overlook a stop at White Cross. We personally love the Cranberry Bog, however all these wines produced are well worth stopping while in Amana.”
“Ah, a night at the Electric Thread Social Club - it's like stepping into a speakeasy meets art gallery with a soundtrack of good vibes. My wife and I had an absolute blast there, thanks in no small part to the fantastic atmosphere and, of course, the delightful manager, TJ. Cheers to TJ and good libations: TJ greeted us with a warm smile and a contagious enthusiasm that instantly put us at ease. My wife, the Cosmo connoisseur, was equally impressed with the creative cocktail menu, and my old fashioned was so perfectly balanced, it felt like a hug in a glass. Beyond the Drinks: But the Electric Thread is more than just a place to quench your thirst. It's a social hub, buzzing with friendly chatter and laughter. We struck up conversations with fellow travelers, sharing stories and recommendations like old friends. The atmosphere is electric (hence the name!), but not overwhelming - it's the perfect blend of lively and laid-back. A Sensory Feast: And then there's the space itself. Exposed brick walls adorned with local art, cozy nooks bathed in warm lighting, and a charming outdoor patio overlooking the millrace stream - it's a feast for the eyes as much as the taste buds. The bar top is a poured bit of history with cogs an tools encapsulated in gallons of crystal clear epoxy! Very cool! Memorable Moments: We left the Electric Thread that night feeling recharged and connected. It wasn't just the great drinks and friendly faces; it was the feeling of being part of something special, a shared experience that left us with warm memories and a desire to return. It was a nice and short walk back to our room in the hotel! So, if you're looking for a place to: Sip on expertly crafted cocktails and local brews Soak up the buzz of good conversation and friendly vibes Discover hidden gems in the Amana region Meet someone as awesome as manager TJ Then look no further than the Electric Thread Social Club. It's more than just a bar; it's an experience you won't forget. Pro tip: Don't miss the occasional live music nights for an extra dose of entertainment. Cheers to TJ and the Electric Thread for a fantastic night!”

“Service was stupendous! So friendly and personable while tending to everyone in the place; Organized and efficient-I hope the management knows what they have! This is a bad photo but it displays how enormous the calzones are compared to the plates.”
“They have outside seating, in front and back. The back patio is very beautiful with the trees, especially in the fall. I had their Autumn Spice wine, it delicious, and perfect for chilly days or nights and it can be warmed. Also tried the Holiday Spice, it was good also.”
“Friendly service. Young lady greeted and shared her insight on her favorite popcorn and also the most popular. I choose the Wisconsin white cheddar and really enjoyed the cheddary buttery goodness. My husband really liked the ranch flavored one so we left happy. Definitely a place to stop in if your in town they have both savory and sweet options. Will be back to try the sweet ones next time.”
“I am a cider girl. Give me a good cider over any other drink any day of the week. This is the place. I tested a blackberry cider and I am hooked. We bought multiple blackberry along with strawberry rhubarb and original cider. AMAZING!!!!!!”
“Shelly and her team catered the cakes for our wedding, and they were phenomenal. So very happy with her and her team, and always great to swing by when I'm in Newhall for a treat .”
“We asked DK’s Eatery to provide a meal for about 35-40 on short notice. We appreciated them working with us and they were great to accommodate, especially with only 3 staff working. The food was simple but delicious. Even had a wheel chair ramp to help get into the eatery. We will be back to try out more of their menu.”
“My dad and I unexpectedly happened upon the Millstream Brewing Co while touring around Amana and stopped in for a quick beer and root beer. We ended up buying some to take home with us to continue to enjoy throughout the summer. I ended up enjoying it so much I made a trip back during the winter holidays to restock! The varieties of beers are inventive and creative. My favorite so far is Adult Nap Time. They seem to have a regular rotation of artists that perform at the brewery too! Definitely a good idea to check this place out for a relaxing moment.”
“Located on the Lower level of the General store you will find Amana Coffee & Team. They offer a HUGE selection of beans and loose leaf teas along with samples! We make it down the the Amana Colonies two or three times a year from the Des Moines metro. Sometimes it's intentional and sometimes we are down in Williamsburg at the outlet mall and main Amana is just a few more miles down the road. The General Store is a must stop location for us. If you want to take home a momento of your visit or want to find something Amanda Colonies centered this is the place for you. Hard goods, food items (refrigerated, jarred/canned, dry), souveniers, some locally sourced goods, and a wide varitety is seasonal holiday items are available at The Christmas Room (connected but technically next door). And don't miss the teas and coffees downstairs at Amana Coffee & Tea... If you can't make it to the individual shops throughout main Amana you can find a lot of the same goods here like a small selection of meats and cheeses from the Amana Meat Shop & Smokehouse. So if your time is limited... The General Store is your spot! Service is always fantastic, the shop is clean and well organized, and it usually smells wonderful in here. It seems we always walk out of here with something! And I can almost guarantee that once you'v been in the General Store along with Amana Coffee & Tea and the Christmas Room, like us, this will be a location you venture into every time you come back to the Amana Colonies.”
“This was an amazing find on F Street in Amana. Eric the mall owner was very helpful and friendly. This store has it all. Full clean and well lite upper and lower levels. Coins, LPs, S&Ps, furniture, glassware, toys, plus 1000s of other items. Allow a couple of hours to see it all. Check them out on Facebook. Stop and shop you won't be disappointed.”

“Millstream Brau Haus solid eatery living in the Amanas! We popped in on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. Our server was truly amazing. He was attentive, kind and prompt. I had a German doppelbock and Millstream's own oatmeal stout. Delish! But the real star of the show were the chicken wings. Great size, well cooked and the sauce (Buffalo) was exactly what I was hankering. Dare I say they are among the best wings in the area!? I dare. The menu features a plethora of sandwiches and burgers (which looked amazing) with some German entrees, as well. I hear their pretzels are to die for. Prices were on point. While this eatery is open daily I will note; it closes earlyish (8 on weekdays, 9 on the weekend). Stop in for a pint-- grab some wings or a pretzel. Millstream Brau Haus is a must-have.”

“4.25* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 3* Value: 5* Service: 5* 01/21/2024 My wife found this place online and wanted to stop for a meal, so we ate brunch here on the way out of town after our weekend stay in Amana. It is inside an older traditional brick building and has a lot of character, actually reminding me of walking into a centuries-old restaurant in Europe. The basic colonial decor fits the character of the 19th century Colonies theme with a penchant for the color burgundy throughout the restaurant. I gave the atmosphere an average rating - clean and historic, yet also a bit aged. The service, quality and value of the food though is what stood out to me from our visit. Max W. was our server and he was very attentive, full of suggestions and made the experience quite enjoyable. My wife ordered the Ronneburg Melt with Fried Potatoes and I ordered the Schnitzel Sandwich with Pickled Beets (see picture below). I don't have pictures of the meals and while I can't seem to get it posted on the website, here is the link for the Reel on Instagram, showing the food and the interior of the restaurant: If you found this review helpful, please show your appreciation with a Like or a Follow. “Got drip coffee complimentary as well as a gluten free monster cookie since we have a gluten allergy. Wish I could have enjoyed more options but grateful for the cookie. My son really enjoyed it he drank with his milk. As for the coffee it was okay. Coffee didn't have much taste and the cup over powered the taste. I'm for biodegradable cups but I didn't enjoy it. Definitely recommend to people who can enjoy a nice strudel they looked delicious! Unfortunately there were none when we stopped in so we couldn't bring some home as treats to family or friends.”
