Buffets in Boise

“There’s a sense of nostalgia with this buffet. Back in Seattle, there was a local restaurant that is currently extinct called the Yankee Diner. The pot roast, potatoes, mac and cheese, was a special place to come and eat. This was before the term foodies and pretentious ratings of food. It was down home, all American, and comfort food.
After moving to Boise, 3 months ago my family finally got a chance to try Chuck-A-Rama. The smells of the food brought me back to the 90’s in which all of my senses were filled with joy. The standout dishes, and there were many consisted of the moist turkey and potatoes. It was cooked so well that I got multiple helpings. The bean and ham soup was a throwback to nostalgia with a hints of smoked ham hocks, pepper, and juicy pieces of ham. The manicotti with ricotta was a blast from the past and the marinara sauce was perfection with the meatballs being juicy, not overcooked and meaty. The salad bar was CLEAN. The dressing was nice and neat with no splatters, and the pickled beans were my absolute favorite. Of course, the chicken, fried food was all standard and appetizing.
The highlight of my families visit was Paula. She was sooooooooo nice and very customer centered. I got the feeling like I was at her house for Thanksgiving and she was sharing with us her favorite dishes. This was the warmth and care that we felt today. What a lovely experience, really good food, amazing prices, and a hard working front and back of house making sure everything from deserts to plates were stocked. 10 stars. I’ll be returning.“
