This funky guy was in the mood for some tacos! Had been wanting to try this place for some time. Went in w/ my wife for some lunch. Atmosphere is cool. Unfortunately, once we were seated, it kinda unraveled from there. Not the service … It was actually good. It was the FOOD! This place is definitely fusion — everything is fused with smoke flavor. We ordered guacamole and chips … the chips were pretty good, but the guac!! Tasted like smoke, mayo and lime … Let the avocados make their OWN magic, FT! My entree was the panko cauliflower tacos and those were pretty good. Upgraded to the funky corn … Which kinda tasted like funky feet. Summary: Cool looking place, but only go if you LOVE a smoked flavor. We did not.

I'd give Funky Taco 5 stars for the food, but 2 stars for the service. Just about every time I've been there, I've been met with bad attitudes and made to feel like my presence is an annoyance and inconvenience to the hostess(es). You might think I'd done something to provoke them, but I am a friendly and polite person. I haven't experienced this behavior or attitude at any other Boise establishments. That said, I still go there on occasion for their vegan nachos. They offer a few great vegan options. And the restaurant itself has a cool vibe with good music.

We had dinner there last Friday (12/29) before going to the Morrison center to see “ six “. We hit happy hour which our tap beer was half price, $4 (good IPAs). We had the chips, salsa and beer cheese. It was ok but I felt the beer cheese and salsa could have had more flavor. Not sure I would order them again unless the recipes change. Had the shitaki mushroom tacos and they were good. I had not eaten here in over a year, maybe two, and back then they had some really nice items on the menu. Not sure why they fell off the menu. Cost or popularity can be an issue. So go during happy hour and try the food. I would go again.

Very unique place. Don't think normal tacos, they are "funky". Really interesting flavor profiles and a unique all around experience. The beer cheese and papa's were my favorite things!

I’m from Portland, and am non-binary. I was pretty nervous visiting Idaho because I know that people out here can be much more conservative than my hometown……..but this place, at least, was definitely a safe space. The bathrooms had an amusing picture on the door that showed a bunch of different people, an alien, a Roman centurion and so forth, and underneath it says “Whatever, just wash your hands!”. It was both cute/funny but also gave me a pretty warm and fuzzy feeling of safety. I went up to says thanks to the staff, and the girls running the place were super nice…..we shared makeup tips ☺️.I had a burrito which was rich but super tasty, we sat in outdoor patio area, we got quick friendly service. The food was good and I’d definitely recommend this place. I felt welcome.
Best cauliflower taco in Boise, period. I come here regularly for that taco! We love the meat and nachos here as well.

Stopped into the Funky Taco for lunch on a Friday.Waitress was superb. Kind, attentive, and happy.I order a side of corn with my entree and the esquites as an app.The corn side is essentially esquites without the cotija.The atmosphere was as pleasant as the service. Music was catchy and fun. I found myself tapping my foot to the beat of songs previously unknown to me.It wasn't busy, but steady. Lots of light and a great craft drinks selection.I'll be back to give them another shot at 5 stars. I won't be ordering the same food again.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian, Vegan, and Dairy Free options

We dropped in for lunch... We shared the Flower Power tacos and the special which was flank steak with fixings. The Flower Power were cauliflower breaded with a spicy crème sauce... Both were very good. Recommend with a good beer!
