“Today I met a guy that made me smile. His name was Shannon. He does not have a cell phone. He does not have a computer or Facebook account. He will not ever know I made this post. Many people I know are aware of him. He has been in business since 1987. He has never advertised. In 1987 he started a $2.00 lunch special that he continues to this day. A personal pizza, a slab of cheesy bread sticks and a soda for $2.00. In Shelley Idaho. His front windows are screens. There is no glass until the winter weather sets in. From the alley it feels like stepping back in time. My $2.00 lunch today was delicious. My hat tips to Shannon who serves 150 lunch specials a day. His simplicity and lack of greed makes this man a legend in my book. Shannon prides himself on delivery anywhere. He has delivered Pizza to hungry campers on Bills Island or up Wolverine Canyon.”

The workers there are such kind people we went in with our baby and they accommodated us and gave him a free bowl of rice. It’s great to have a spot like this in our community.”

“I got there as they were closing and almost left, but decided to see if I could still get a take out order. They were so nice and accommodating. I believe it was the bar tender that took care of me. Exceptional service. And I am so glad I didn't leave. The food is amazing! Every bit of it was exceptional. I got chicken samosas (so light and flaky and full of flavor), the goat Korma Masala (just perfect, a touch of heat, and just pure comfort food), the garlic Naan (light, soft, honestly the best I've had) and the dessert I can't pronounce or spell, the little dough balls in a honey syrup (amazing). I am so glad I stopped while traveling through town.”

“Phenomenal. Legit Korean food. Bulgogi, bibimbap did not disappoint. Beef was thin and super flavorful. Pork was thin and flavorful with the right amount of spicy. Ordered both the mild and spicy sauce for mandu. Loved the heat of the spicy. Both were very good. The special of the day Tteokobkki was so good. Spicy, soul satisfying. Kimchi was nice and crisp with the perfect flavor I’ve been missing. Pickled daikon was spot on. Staff were very attentive and asked multiple times if we needed anything. Can’t wait to try gimbap next. Thank you The Porky Korean for the great lunch.”

“It was our first visit- the day before Mother’s day. They were BUSY & out of several flavors, so we chose a 4 pack with two of the lemon cookies in it. The one oatmeal choc chip cookie was the best we’ve ever tasted! The other was very doughy & too sweet- however the 2 lemon cookies were so raw that we couldn’t even enjoy them… ?. So very sad! The busy staff was kind, helpful, and prompt. The store smelled awesome & we may try again on a normal day. Does Crumble stand behind their cookies when not baked???”

I ordered the pad woon sen and pad Thai, both at level 3 heat, which sits squarely in the middle of their spice scale. The heat arrived politely rather than boldly. There was warmth, but it lingered more like a suggestion than a challenge. For diners who enjoy spice without courting regret, this is a safe zone. Those who chase sweat might want to nudge the number higher. The pad Thai delivered the expected hits: tender rice noodles, a balanced sweet-sour profile, and a sauce that clung well without drowning the dish. It didn’t reinvent anything, but it didn’t need to. This was a competent, comforting version of a classic, the culinary equivalent of hearing a familiar song played cleanly and without flair. The pad woon sen stood out a bit more. The glass noodles had a pleasing spring, soaking up the sauce while keeping their texture intact. The dish leaned savory, with enough depth to keep each bite interesting. It felt slightly more confident than the pad Thai, less constrained by expectations. Service was efficient and low-key, matching the overall vibe of the restaurant. Thai 208 doesn’t posture or perform. It feeds you, reliably, and sends you back into the world fed and content. The takeaway: Thai 208 isn’t chasing trends or pushing boundaries. It’s serving steady, approachable Thai food with moderate heat and familiar flavors. If you’re looking for fireworks, you may leave wanting more. If you’re looking for a dependable bowl of noodles that won’t surprise or disappoint, Thai 208 knows exactly who it is and cooks accordingly 🌶️🍜”
