Definitely not the original Taco grande by Don Manuel. They still keep his menu but I guess he didn't pass on the recipes. If you are from Batavia you know what I am talking about.

I am disappointed. We had been to this restaurant a few times in the past and had been happy but recently we went twice, about a month apart, and it was not impressive. Not sure if ownership has changed relatively recently, but it is different. Very small amount of chips and salsa given. Chips were stale and the salsa did not taste home made. We have had much better at other Mexican restaurants of comparable value. What I like about this establishment is the variety of menu selections. Typically I get the Pollo a la Barra which is a spicy dish made with a tequila lime sauce. The last time it wasn't as good as previous times and the chicken pieces had a fair amount of gristle that was inedible. This time I decided to get the Cazadores because of its uniqueness. There is a slice of cactus on the plate. There wasn't much flavor to the dish. The beef was fine, though kind of rubbery, but the chicken had the gristle again, and the pork was basically fat with very little meat. I had to spit a lot of it out. My wife had gotten the Torta Carne Asada. She said the flavor was there but the portion was extremely small: very little meat. I informed the server who said "something should be done" about it but nothing was offered. I informed the person standing at the counter (whom I thought was the manager) on the way out. I think some form of allowance should have been made. We are not people to complain and raise a fuss but I probably should have been more insistent. One doesn't plan on having to deal with this when trying to have a peaceful date with his wife. I think this restaurant has to step up its game otherwise others, like us, won't be back.

Highly recommend going to the comedy vault on a Friday or Saturday for an early show and then as soon as it's done heading over to this neat little outdoor below ground level Mexican restaurant. Great little hidden spot. Food is so good!!

Great food, great service. Sat outside, it's nice and private while being able to still observe the bustle of the downtown area. Highly recommend.

We have gotten food from here our whole lives, once the owner sold it the quality and flavor of the food instantly took a toll. Customer service was near impossible to work with and told us they didn’t have an item when it was on their menu. We repeated our order 3 times to still have the wrong one come back. Asked for no tomato, there was tomato. Gave us maybe a scoop of steak, not even that i ate the whole thing, one bite of steak. If you want the real taco grande taste go to Fernando’s, also in batavia.

Febrero 3, 2024 Surfsontrees and I walked to El Taco ? Grande for the first time to enjoy a rewarding meal ?️ after a good exercise. As soon as you enter there is a cool tequila bar where you will meet with your waiter to guide you to your seat into their beautiful art and culture inspired atmosphere. I especially fell in love with their chairs because each one was different. The food was fire ? fuego delicious ? major appreciation to the chef who created two massive burritos ? which definitely gave us a lot for left overs. The diablo ? burrito ? hawt hawt hawt but dang great meal. The horchata was so rich and milky along with a dash of cinnamon. Along with engulfing in their chips and salsa. I loved every bite. ?️ If your in the area schedule a meal for your own personal experience at this cool place. The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. Thank you so much. ?

Kid-friendliness: The art ?️ and sculptures that represent the culture really gives a calming and soothing aura inside this restaurant. A true appreciation of art and nature.

One member of our party asked for chicken and got beef. Another asked for red sauce on the side- it was not served on the side (after being told it would be on the side). Service is very nice, but very, very slow.
