D.A.’S Deli and Dining Reviews
corn beef very salty
"I had high hopes for D.A's Corned Beef, but my experience at the Calumet location was terrible. The sandwich was awful—the meat was way too thick, and they heated it so much that my Swiss cheese turned into a disgusting, glue-like mess. It looked more like mayonnaise than melted cheese. I traveled all the way from Indianapolis to try this place, and now I regret it. I couldn't even finish my meal—I felt sick and ended up throwing the sandwich in the trash. I will never waste...read full review
The meat they used in my last visit was terrible and very poor quality from before. I received my order right before they closed so when I called the next day no kind of resolution was reached. Sure enough I ate half the sandwich cause that's all I had to eat that night plus they were closed 5 mins before closing for us to get the situation reconciled then. I paid a decent amount to get a sandwich I could've gotten and made myself using deli meat. smh

D.A.’S Deli and Dining is a small restaurant known for its good food and friendly staff. Customers often enjoy their meals, such as the peach cobbler, which is still delicious despite being a bit dry and best eaten with ice cream. The menu is limited, and portion sizes have decreased compared to before, making some customers feel the prices are not quite worth the quantity of food they receive.
Many reviews mention the quality of the meat, especially in sandwiches like the Corned Beef and Reuben. Some found the meat to be poor quality or too thick, and at times, the meat was heated excessively, causing the cheese to turn into a glue-like mess. One customer was disappointed with the corned beef at the Calumet location, feeling it was not worth the price and was poorly prepared. Another noted that the half-pound of corned beef was good, but wished they had ordered a full pound for better value.
Despite these issues, the place remains clean and the staff friendly. Prices can be high, with a Reuben sandwich costing over $23, which some feel is overpriced for the portion size. Visitors passing through might consider trying the soul food on Sundays, and those who enjoy deli meats may find the food worth a try, especially if they opt for larger quantities.
