Complete BS move on Restaurant Week. 4:00 to 4:30 is an insult to people trying to give you their hard-earned money.

Wanted to try you, but now will never darken your door. And I will let everyone I know about what you (and “Julia”) pulled, as well as the wholly unprofessional way it was done. I hope your business drops through the floor. Good riddance.

Intimate location, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The octopus and holgos y huevos were delicious. The steak, Gallegos cut, mouth-watering. Overall, lives up to the hype 😉

Food was fine. Our server was arrogant and totally ruined our experience.

Shady restaurant week moves left a bad taste in my mouth. Not worth the hassle when you live in Chicago with other options

Sat at the bar.
The tortillas was completely raw. Throughout. Potatoes were hard. Only thing eatable was the jamon

However that’s not the worse.

When the main course came. They sent out the wrong sides. Would not let me mix the bone marrow. Steak was burnt and chewy.

Asked for a different glass of wine. The bartender said he got me then completely forgot about it.

Has he have checked up on us.. these issues would have been resolved. However the only check up he gave was the check itself.

Pretty ridiculous as he only had 4 covers.

Dined here for NYE. While I love caviar, caviar on every course was overkill. The steak was tough which would have been fine (certain type of steak) if they gave sharp steak knives. The knives would have struggled to cut a banana. No wine pairing was offered so we had to ask the waiter to come ask the chef for suggestions. The wine suggestions were good but it just seemed not as professional as I would have expected.

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday with dinner at Asador Bastian, and the entire experience was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and taken care of. The food was absolutely outstanding—every dish was thoughtfully prepared, perfectly executed, and unforgettable. The level of service matched the quality of the cuisine, attentive without ever feeling intrusive. A special shout out to Juan and Craig, who went above and beyond to make the night feel extra special. From start to finish, Asador Bastian delivered an exceptional dining experience that I won’t forget.

All around fun experience of wonderful service, superb food, great atmosphere. We had the corn-lobster-fois gras pintxos. Tiny and good. Beef tallow potatoes were amazing, and the highlight is the protein - sweet brown butter cigalas (langoustines) and of course, the steak. Perfect cook, perfect seasoning. The hazelnut chocolate cake was intense and amazing, but alas, next to it, the burnt basque cheesecake paled a little.

I loved the sides and apps, wine was fantastic but steaks just aren’t worth the price.

I’ve been to Asador Bastian twice, both times with the same server, Christian. The food is incredible, but the service consistently fell short.

During our first visit with a large group, two guests had seafood allergies. We informed the server and allowed the restaurant to guide most of the menu. When a seafood course was served, however, no substitute was provided for our friends with allergies, leaving them without a plate while the rest of us ate. It was honestly pretty awkward but we assumed it was a busy-night oversight and didn’t make an issue of it at the time

We returned for Restaurant Week because the food was that good. Unfortunately, the service experience was even more disappointing. When my husband asked for an affordable wine recommendation, the server refused to give a price range and insisted my husband provide a dollar amount. When my husband mentioned he likes Côtes du Rhône, the server responded, “That’s French—we’re a Spanish restaurant,” in a pretentious tone that completely soured the interaction.

We live in the neighborhood and hoped this could become a go-to spot, but after two uncomfortable experiences, we can’t see ourselves returning. The food is fantastic—but if you go, I strongly recommend avoiding being seated with Christian unless you already know exactly what you want.

Excellent Galiciana steak and throughly enjoyed the bone marrow potato puree. The warm winter salad was very heavy handed on the vinegar and overdressed. Service cadence was off despite having multiple (nearly 6 different people) in front of us at the bar. They forgot the Nico’s Piquilos we ordered too. The menu is a bit awkward to in representing The San Miguel. It should clarify that it’s a smaller portion of any of the steaks on the left. They were also out of that option.

Best steakhouse in North America is questionable.
