We had a delightful brunch at Big Jones on Sunday. Our waiter was remarkable: friendly and attentive without being overwhelming. He made sure to communicate my allergy information to the kitchen, as well. Food was excellent, as always.
Our waiter took 20 min to come to the table- clearly walking by many many times without acknowledging us. Our food was good overall but this was a second chance for Big Jones . I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Both times I have been there have been just ok. The front hostess staff is very nice but the wait staff seems inexperienced or simply doesn't care about TIPS. People should NOT have to wait 20 min for acknowledgment or a drink cup of coffee at brunch!
This is really our favorite place to have brunch in Chicago and we've been to a LOT including some that have a lot of buzz. The food here is consistently good, they change the menu just enough and their baked goods are divine. The wait staff are great and the volume just right so you can actually hear each other. The only part of the restaurant I do not like is the very very back, it is usually FAR too cold with the AC blasting and it is so close to the restrooms and just...
