Their burger was very good…and the fries are great! It’s a cool restaurant in a very cool historic Chicago building.

Restaurant Week dinner was fantastic. Food, service, atmosphere… everything. Bistro Monadnock is a gem. I’ll definitely return. (Pictures include smoked steelhead with trout roe, lobster bisque, skate wing Grenobloise, steak frites, profiteroles, and crème brûlée)

Sat at the bar and ate off the restaurant week menu. First off, I wasn't able to catch the bartender's name but he was fantastic. Gave me great recommendations. Also, the food was phenomenal! Such a great local spot in the loop to go for dinner. Cannot suggest this place enough.

Everything about Bistro Monadnock was lovely. The food and cocktails are top tier good, you have to get the French Onion Soup. The cocktails exceeded my expectations, their Mont Blanc is my new favorite cocktail. The bartender is just as talented as the staff crafting the meals. Our server was the ideal server, always there when needed but never hovering and had answers to every question. I’ve added this place to my rotation and have been spreading the good word. I recommend this to everyone that truly enjoys quality food and drink.

I went back last night and the food wasn't the same. The bouillabaisse was different without the lobster base and unusually spicy. And the steak and fries were very salty that masked the good quality of the meat. It's like they have a new chef.

Bistro Monadnock has a wonderful European charm that immediately sets the mood. The French soup and escargot were outstanding and alone worth the visit. An ideal pre-show dinner stop with great food and a classic French bistro feel.

I’ve been here multiple times, and every visit is just as good as the last. The French onion soup is the star of the show and honestly rivals the best I’ve had in Paris.
It’s the perfect spot for a quick lunch or a romantic dinner before seeing a show. Consistently excellent food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We went there for happy hour, and the menu was excellent. The bartender was great; she took care of us in a super nice way. She recommended good wines and sparkling for a quick toast. Oysters were our favorite, and the croquettes. We will come back soon for dinner.

Had an INCREDIBLE pre-show dinner here. We arrived early at 5pm and the place was full and turning those without reservations away by 6pm. We started with escargot and oysters Rockefeller - the escargot really stiff out. They were hot and buttery, and the bread was warm and crunchy for dipping. We then split the beets & blue salad. It felt unique and had a delicious raspberry dressing. The entree was the skate fish - one of the best dishes of the night! I don’t often see skate on a menu, so jumped at the opportunity and was not disappointed yes. The sauce was excellent. Finally for dessert we had a challah bread with poached bear and gelato. It was good, not great, and not as tasty at the rest of the meal. Overall thought it was an incredible meal with great service.

**** Food: As other diners had reported the uneven volume of salt in many dishes baffled. Add to that round of reports the amount of spirit in at least one drink. Hot toddy was fabulous so long as its temperature stayed hot; then its vermouth strangled the fungi- and filiform. Saltless beef tallow fries let the diner wish for tableside salt and pepper. But escargot paired with apple cider or water was best even though still quite mild. But then again, wonderfully tender yet terribly, terribly, terribly salty beef bourguignon went way past hearty. Was its super salty taste due to too much reduction? Its sauce wasn't thick so I question that afterthought. Moving on, desserts were fine and included a tall French toast and ice creams.
***** Service: Best in ages and also fun. Jared Leto may have greeted us when we entered. Just kidding! The fellow looked like him in a dim entryway which was more _The Matrix_ than _Tron: Ares._
**** Atmosphere: Dim as previously noted and quite comfortable even though loud music carried heavy bass. (Randolph St, Restaurant Row's Muzak/Pandora/Spotify volume levels just didn't suit this much-classier site.) There were diners aplenty at this location in the 130-year-old Chicago landmark Monadnock Building and across from/near the Union League Club. Now if this eatery could make its cuisine more like G Cuisance's former Kiki's Bistro on N Franklin St....

40 minutes on we didn't even get our bread and butter appetizer. Paid for drinks and left, otherwise I expect we would have been there all night waiting for our meal.
