This is the worst banking experience I’ve had. You are honestly better off using an online bank like Chime.
Capital One only has two café locations in Chicago, and the Hyde Park (53rd St) location is by far the worst. The customer service has been consistently poor across multiple visits. Staff members come off as passive-aggressive and sarcastic rather than professional or helpful.
The ATMs are outdated and unreliable, and the overall experience feels disorganized and neglected. It’s frustrating to deal with subpar service and outdated technology at a bank of this size.
I’ve given this location more than one chance, and each visit confirmed the same issues. I would not recommend this branch.

I came to this Hyde Park Capital One Cafe looking for a seating area with my son to work for a few hours. I was greeted each and every time I come. Ambassador Christopher Price and his staff welcome us with graciousness and hospitality that is beyond my expectations of what I am use to in a cafe and/or bank. I’ve enjoyed being here tremendously as well as many other people here, I know this by them greeting customers by their first name.
TIPS: 1) Use your Capital One bank card or credit card and get 50% your purchase. Thank you Capital One for your VIP treatment. Everyday is a customer appreciation day.

Some of the cafe employees are okay. The bankers, however, can be selective with who they are pleasant to. And there is a young banker who makes women feel uncomfortable with his stares and awkward interactions. It's not hard to be professional to everyone who comes through the door and spends their money.

Verve advertised a deal for students that said you would get one free handcrafted brew after showing your student ID. This was only a ploy to get you in the door. Upon ordering they then informed me that it was only a 10 percent discount 👎 that being said their coffee was delicious

I was staying in Hyde Park for a couple of weeks and chose this Capital One Café as my go-to remote workspace. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming—perfect for getting work done. Jawan kindly gave me a tour and explained all the great perks available at the café, and Mike made the best macchiatos. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a relaxed, friendly place to work or hang out.
