Twice a year for the past two years, orders have been placed to stock up on the most amazing gluten free pizzas and empanadas from Cassava. The texture of the cassava dough is perfect. When cooked correctly, the outside crust offers an amazing crispness, while the warm inside bread is soft and chewy. The fillings and toppings are plentiful and taste amazing. I look forward every spring and fall to ordering another round.

THIS. IS. SO. GOOD. Holy cow, wow. Ordered some empanadas and pizzas for myself (severe gluten allergy) and friends, and my friends couldn't even tell these were gluten free. Absolutely delicious and outstanding. We ordered for pick-up and got to meet Marcos as well, who was so kind and helpful. I would 1,000% recommend all the food here!!

Cassava Empanadas is definitely one of the top 5 food spots in Chicagoland for me. The food is simply fantastic, and we love ordering it for delivery via Uber. It's a great option for us, especially because a family member has celiac disease - we trust the restaurant to provide safe and delicious food every time. The empanadas are a must-try, and everything on the menu is delicious. The cassava crusts are soft and flavorful without being greasy, and the unique flavor combinations are always a treat. I was so so excited to find a gluten free empanada! The pastry was perfect, but the filling could be better. There was a flavor within each one that I just didn’t like. For example, mushrooms overpowered the spinach dish (spinach and cheese might be a better combo) and there was a chicken empanada that was like 50% sweet potato. The steak was probably the best of the 3 because I could actually taste the protein. I will probably be back tbh because there aren’t a ton of gluten free restaurants near me, but it’s not my top 10.

I love that this place is dedicated gf but i really think they should roll the dough out flatter. the fillings of all of them were really good but the thick sticky part of the crust just took away from that. a lil disappointed since i had been looking forward to eating here forever!
As a Miami transplant living in Chicago who also has celiac, I needed an empanada hookup. Cassava did NOT disappoint! I tried one of every flavor and each was more delicious than the last. The dough is soft and pillowy and the fillings are so flavorful and tasty. My favorites were the ground beef, chicken, pork and vegetable. Make sure you get chimichurri on the side, it is the perfect addition to an already incredible meal. You would have no idea they were gluten free unless you knew ahead of time. In fact, I did my panicked “these taste too good to be truly GF” google search as I was eating haha. They offer pickup and delivery and they keep/heat up really well so you can stock up when you order! Can’t wait to order more.

We have ordered a selection of their gluten free pizzas, and empanadas. all them are delicious. recommend you bake them using a preheated hot pizza stone/steel to get the best crispiness and flavor of the crust. We will order from them again.

Why am I just finding out about this place? To know I can eat here safely is such a relief and the food is delicious! I had the chicken and apple empanadas and they were amazing! Try the sauces, they are worth the .25-.35 cents extra. I am full and happy and can't wait to try more!

I ordered 2 of the Italian sausage bacon crusted pizzas on Monday and got them delivered Tuesday. The pizza’s looked nothing like the pictures. The sausage was all crumpled up in little pieces all over. I was highly disappointed and I want to sue for false advertising. I’ll never order from there again!!!
