Very friendly atmosphere from the moment we walked in. Great local hangout in Roscoe Village. And amazing Wisco Cheese Curds!!
On a recent trip to Chicago (from Australia), we stayed in Roscoe Village and had the pleasure of hosting a family reunion at the Commonwealth Tavern.
We picked the Commonwealth Tavern as our preferred venue simply due to its location, which was literally across the road from where we were staying.

Commonwealth Tavern is a great spot in Roscoe, Chicago, with fast and friendly service. The cheese curds are flavorful, soft, light, tender, and not greasy—the best south of the Wisconsin border! The breakfast burger with brisket and the Commonwealth burger are juicy and delicious, and the chicken tacos are a must-try. The bar offers a large draft beer selection, including ciders on tap, and cocktails like the excellent Old Fashioned. It's a perfect place to watch sports with TVs everywhere or enjoy a business lunch with tasty fries and moist, tender chicken atop a salad. The staff, including Christine, are gracious and top-notch, offering great recommendations. A bustling neighborhood bar with delicious food and a good beer selection, definitely worth a visit. Loved the open windows and being able to hear Roscoe Village outside!
