El Palmar has become one of our go tos for a quick and yummy meal. We typically order take out - chicken chimichanga, tacos, burritos - and it's all be great. We finally ate in a few weeks ago and tried the shrimp cocktail and the chicken mole. The shrimp cocktail was good but the star of that meal was definitely the mole. The chicken fell right off the bone and the sauce had great flavor. Our friends ordered the paella and seemed to enjoy it!
I really like this place. The food is terrific; the waitresses are nice. Of course, the place is somewhat small - and, it's usually busy when I've gone there. But, they certainly try to make room for everyone!

This place is the real deal. Authentic food that is incredible with excellent service. The seafood if fresh and prepared like no other restaurant in Chicago. We go here as a family and my kids love the street tacos and burritos. I typically get the whole red snapper which is deep fried whole. Its great to see he kids see this dish hit the table and then they stop eating there meals and everyone eats the fish. 5 Starts for El Palmer and their staff and we will be back again!
