Go here, get a Rueben (or really anything with the pastrami) and you'll be in good shape. I will say though that the sauerkraut is top notch, so I guess you would be missing something by not getting the Rueben. In all seriousness, this is not your typical NYC-style deli - the meat here is cut into a few thick slices as opposed to the mounds of thin shavings in NYC. Other than that subtle difference, the flavors and quality can hang with the best of them - a favorite spot in the French market.

I'm still not sure what Montreal style pastrami is, but it's damn good. I got the half sandwich with gardinera and pickle, and it wasn't quite enough... go for the full sandwich. The meat is very well seasoned, has a delicious crust and is perfectly on the dry side of a smoked meat. They are also happy to give you a sample of the meat to try!

I've been craving pastrami from Fumare Meats for almost five years. The Reuben was every bit as good as I remember, with rye perfectly toasted with butter on a flat top grill, and the pastrami crispy on the outside and pull-apart soft on the inside.

Good smoke meat sandwich almost like being in Montreal

Just ordered the reuben sandwich and it tasted great especially with the horseradish. The portion size is just too small for a $14 plus sandwich.

Great choice in French Market, back aisle. The pastrami is just delicious. I've had the Detroit and the Rueben before, but today I had the Dutchess and I must say, that may be the only thing I will order at French Market moving forward. So good!

Sweet Jesus, the pastrami is good. I more or less stopped eating pastrami after I moved back here from New York. No more, thanks to this place. Plain pastrami on rye, the pastrami rueben, all out of this world. Great soup as well, and a very nice staff. I've been trying to check out all the other restaurants in the French Market, but this place is difficult to walk past.

The Reuben. YES! Yelp is forcing me to write more. But, honestly, there's nothing else worth saying. YES!

The Detroit and Montreal style smoked pastrami sandwiches is the best pastrami I've ever had. I'm deducting 1 star due to rude customer service. I asked the server to please give me a minute to decide which sandwich I'd like. When I ordered about 30 seconds later she never responded verbally or non verbally. Then she asked who was next and I mentioned my order again when she said I heard you sir in a derogatory fashion.

This is hands-down the best pastrami I've ever had in my life. I had NO idea that pastrami could be so tender, moist, and flavorful! I ordered only a half sandwich, which was a mistake as I wanted to eat more!!! Matzo Ball soup was yummy as well. I've decided that when I come to the French Market, even if I order food from another stall, I should get a half-pastrami as a back-up no matter what.
I love the Montreal pastrami sandwich here - if you're really hungry at lunch it is truly satisfying. In the summer, my favorite is the nicoise tuna sandwich. Friendly fast and delicious!

Great food! I got the Turkey and provolone and it was delicious.

I don't know if we were expecting the pastrami to be so thick-cut, but we were quite satisfied with the deep flavor and good chew. Happy to have this option before a train ride.

The Montreal-Style Smoked Pastrami is not like any other meat you've tried. So incredible!

I can say, hands down, this is the most surprised, delighted, and satisfied I've been over a pastrami sandwich. The Duchess was magnificent. I'll be back. Many more times.
