“Visited last weekend and had a blast. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming, as were many of the patrons. Pretty packed on a Saturday night, but we still got to play shuffle board, ski ball, and some card games. Overall great place, definitely excited to come back.“

“Rather than rally support for one of the VERY FEW Chicago South Side venues catering to the LGBT+ population and its allies - that has managed to stay in business for DECADES - it’s so much easier to bash it. Dysfunction Breeds Discord. I appreciate the resilience of the business and its long history of providing a safe space for mainly Black LGBT+ folks on the South Side. It’s never been upscale but I don’t think it was intended to be. Back in the day, it was a rare watering hole for locals and none ever worried about murder on or near the premises because the neighborhood was quite decent. No more. While I think it’s unfortunate young people no longer have the JP as a convenient spot, they still have the other spot not too far away. I applaud the JP owner for his bold move to make the space safer AND attract patrons who are not caught up in the rap sway. I plan to continue patronizing the business, unless and until I’m given reason to no longer do so.“

The Regulars are the best and the bartenders are great and pour an incredible drink!
When it's busy, it's crazy and when it's quiet it's great.

“LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. It is always so good. Everything is 5/5. My only complain would be that the noise level, you can not talk very clearly if you are not shouting but I think that comes with age lol Overall very very good, will always recommend“
