We used to love this place but not sure what’s happened over the past year. Our biggest recent concern is almost every time they get our bill wrong. Sometimes they forget to add something, most times there’s things on there that we didn’t order. This used to not be the case. Between my husband and I we’ve got this joke… lol! Also the pastries, sometimes they’re fresh and to die for, sometimes they’re so stale we don’t go past the first bite. We are now noticing this with the sandwich breads we get. We hope they fix whatever it is that’s been going on, as it’s a shame for local favorite to go down like this.

This place is a hidden gem in the Gold Coast. The staff and owners are a pleasure to interact with and they really care about service and their food. I’m a fan of so many items and their chocolate is the best I’ve ever tasted. Bread is excellent because they take their time. Pastries are just as great! Hendrickx is a real treat.

Didn’t dine in, only got some country bread for take away but it was SOOO good. Best European/belgian/german bread I had in Chicago so far. The Inside is super fluffy with a a perfect crust - not too soft!:)

Goat cheese, pistachio, and honey sandwich was to die for, and the zucchini soup warmed me up on a cold day.

I went to this place for the first time and ordered a chicken curry salad sandwich and an oat milk latte. To begin with, the sandwich was on a giant piece of bread with about 1.5lbs of shredded curry chicken on it. While the first bite wasn't bad, by bite 5 it became impossible to keep eating it. It was bland and not worth the price. My main complaint is the coffee. I've never had worse. To begin with, it was served to me at an insanely high temperature. I had to wait 10 mins before taking the first sip. The espresso tasted burnt. They don't know how to properly froth oat milk. I opened the lid of the cup (a to go cup) to be greeted with 5 inches of burnt foam. To the workers of this establishment, your service is friendly and you all seem very nice. But please learn to properly make espresso drinks. You seem to think a latte is all foam.Overall, I would not go here again. I never take the time to write a bad review. But I believe this establishment can benefit from some constructive criticism.

This was the ABSOLUTE BEST eclair I have EVER had in my life. My friends had the cheese croissant and hazelnut croissant, and they were very pleased as well. If you’re looking for a little sweet pastry and a coffee, THIS IS THE PLACE! French roast coffee was only $1.95!!! Where can you find a good coffee for under $2, much less downtown Chicago! Cute little shop that’s a little hidden.

Cute European bakery in the Gold Coast near MagMile. They have the best croissants in the US IMO. Whenever I travel to Chicago, this is a must-stop. Gruyère croissants are amazing and so unique.

Wonderful place for a quick bite. Soup was good-well seasoned, hot, and flavorful. The bread and pastry were tasty. Our experience was only marred by the loud racist seniors that made the small seating area toxic.

Quiche didn’t taste good and was still cold in the middle, even after it took 15 minutes to arrive. We only took two bites of it and left the rest, and instead of asking about it. they just took it away, so I guess they don’t care that much. Croissant was good, but would’ve been better warmed up. Eclair was good, and exactly what you’d expect, but the macarons didn’t seem fresh, almost frozen inside, and almost to chewy to get through in certain flavors.

Absolute perfection! This place has stuff that is as good as any cafe in Europe. The breads, the small cakes, the soups, the sandwiches, it's all great. The Belgian iced coffee is very good, though a little sweet. The place is small but has a small place to sit, and tables outside for when it is nice. Really fabulous place!

The croissants here are unbelievably delicious! I highly recommend the pistachio chocolate croissant. The almond one was also great! The cafe storefront is really tiny and they have a little seating area right around the corner when you order your food. The breads all smell amazing. I was tempted to buy a variety of things. The oat milk latte was good, too. This is just the cutest little breakfast spot. I recommend stopping in to get a little treat.

Stopped by her on a Saturday mid-morning for some coffee and croissants that I have read so much about! This cute little shop was small on the inside but was filled with so many delectable looking pastries and desserts. I wanted to try a couple so I got a chocolate croissant, hazelnut croissant, and the caprese croissant (sandwich). Each croissant was outstanding! So fresh, flakey, and delicious!! I do think they forgot the basil on my caprese croissant and it needed some balsamic, but it was very good. I ordered a medium vanilla latte, too, and it was ok. It was very sweet and i couldn't really taste the espresso. Overall, this little belgian bakeshop gem is absolutely worth the visit for some of the most incredible croissants & desserts you can find in Chicago!
