The bartender, I think his name is John is sooo dreamy, omg totally cute. He’ll mumble some inteligible thing and toss a bottle of the champagne of beers in your direction. Preston makes the greatest Irish mule in the city of Chicago. At 2 am everyone is required to join the conga line.
The paintings are cool but I don’t think there’s enough nudity.
Visiting this establishment is always one of my favorite experiences whether it's a cold one after work or w/ friends visiting from out of town, Old Time ale House is always on the list of late night jaunts. Most people take it for granted, but walking in here is like walking into a open time capsule.
The bartenders are always top notch.
If you're lookin' for a real Chicago dive bar, Old Town Ale House is the spot. Been around since '58, and it feels like it. The walls are covered in wild, political art. Grab a Miller High Life or a Bell's Two-Hearted, and enjoy the old-school jukebox. No frills, just good drinks and a classic atmosphere. Perfect for a pre- or post-Second City show. Cash only, so come prepared. You might even spot a celeb or two. Spent about $25 for a couple beers and a whiskey....
