This was a very solid breakfast spot. The only thing is that they have a blanket surcharge on eggs at the moment even if you don't order any which I thought was strange. Tough times, also found the drip coffee to be very bland. Next time I think I'll get a shake or a smoothie.

Food is excellent. I had the Ranchero Omelet and my boyfriend had the country fried steak. The restaurant is very clean and small. Weekends are always busy so be ready to wait for a table regardless of how big your party is. There is a note on the food menu that says all meals with eggs will have a $2 add on bc of inflation. As a person who works in the food industry, I totally understand but menu prices are already higher for the restaurants profits. Furthermore, restaurants buy in bulk from distributors and while their prices may also have changed, the bulk is still saving the restaurant money. The only reason this restaurant is a star away from a 5 is because a side of bread costs $2+tax and they give you one tiny single piece of bread......never seen a restaurant bring a single slice of bread......

Went to Titzal on a Saturday morning for a late breakfast. I ordered the Vampiro juice which was delicious but came without any added ice and was almost room temperature. It would have been more refreshing to have the freshly squeezed juice served chilled. My table ordered the Silver Dollar Pancakes. They tasted like they had been made from boxed pancake mix and were reheated. Their texture was dry and spongey. I’ve had better pancakes from the Trader Joe’s freezer section, to be honest. We also ordered a side of bacon, which ended up being 3 strips of bacon that seemed like they had been drying out in a warming plate for a while. They were not hot, and definitely not freshly fried. Lastly, we shared the Zepher Omelet. Listen, there is no reason for this omelet to be $17. The combination of flavors and textures were all off. It was greasy, salty, and hard to experience in a clean bite. The top of the omelet has 2 slices of melted Swiss cheese. Sliced cheese and omelets do not go well together because the anti-caking agent on the cheese prevents it from getting nice and gooey to the point where it blends in well witb the eggs when you’re chewing it. Instead, each bite of the omelet brought out poorly the filling, eggs, and sliced melted Swiss came together as an eating experience.

I know this place is known for their chilaquiles, which my table didn’t order. It’s definitely possible that those items are reliably delicious here.

Unfortunately, my meal here was disappointing and did not live up to the recommendations I’d seen for this place on community groups and other online spaces.

Lastly, I’ll add that we wanted to sit on the patio and the person who was seating us told us the patio was closed. Mysteriously, a few minutes later, another group came in and asked to be seated out on the patio and they were walked back there by a different FOH staff person. Was this difference in treatment an example of the FOH staff fawning over the white customers mentioned by another Google reviewer? Idk… It could have simply been a miscommunication about the patio’s status that day.

I won’t be going back to this cafe again despite its convenient proximity to me. The food was giving Double Tree Continental Breakfast for a might-as-well-book-a-hotel-room price. For me, it’s not worth another visit to give it another chance, since this community has so many other small restaurants and cafes that may be in a similar price range but offer higher quality ingredients and fresher, tastier preparation.

Chicken and Eggs chilaquiles were solid and served hot with decent green salsa. Way too much cheese and the there was no effort placed in the presentation of the food but it was still a solid meal and the portion size was good. I added a star for the taste and portion size versus value.
The service left ALOT to be desired. Waited unnecessarily to be seated then waited another 5-10 minutes for my order to be taken while others were not only seated immediately but immediately waited on. Unfortunate.
I will never travel from the south side to the north side again for this spot but it is good if you have to get something and happen to be in the neighborhood.
It definitely DOES NOT belong on the Chicago Best Breakfast list.

unfortunately, this place has gone downhill. We couldn’t finish our breakfast because it was so incredibly greasy; the eggs were sitting in a pool of grease. The service was just OK, I kept having to flag down the server to place our order, ask the check, etc. I don’t plan on coming back, unfortunately.

The oatmeal milkshake is everything! The staff is kind and considerate to all. It's a small place but it has a great vibe. They've been in this neighborhood for a long time. Way before all the "changes" and I hope they're able to stay and benefit from all the well off newcomers.

It has been many years since I've been to this restaurant but I decided to go back since a friend was visiting from another part of the city.

The food was absolutely stellar with the poached eggs being done to perfection and everything highly seasoned. Usually poached eggs come out very watery so I was extremely impressed.

They also gave me a little sample of the smoothie my friend had which was 100% juice. Absolutely delicious.

The staff were extremely inviting and you could tell that they took a lot of pride in the restaurant and the food it provides. For the quality and the amount of food you get, the price is extremely reasonable especially for the area.

I haven't had their signature oatmeal shake in a long time and didn't get it this time around either. But I'll need to come back and try it again. I remember it being quite the treat.

Vegetarian options: While most of the dishes that aren't sweet have meat. Almost everything has a vegetarian option. Although if you're vegan you're going to have a hard time.

We got Chilaquiles with eggs, steak quesadillas, oatmeal banana milkshake, and a fresh squeezed carrot, mango and pineapple juice. The food was delicious, the chilaquiles portion size was perfect for one person! The milkshake and the juice came with a little “shot” glass, that way my friend and I both got to try each other drinks.

Group of two, waited about 6 minutes inside at the front to be attended so we can put our names down for the wait list. Once seated our hostess had an attitude and once we placed our order we noticed others who sat after us already recieved their food. Luckily we did get a refill on our coffee. After waiting a little over 25min recieved our food. Meat lover Omelet was very flavorless.

The chilaquiles verdes.
To my like they put a lot of cheese but it was my first time going there.
The coffe, the service and the vibes were just perfect.
It was a perfect day to have brunch outside innthe patio.

The food was delicious and the mango smoothie was very good. For Brunch I don't feel like there were so many options but for breakfast there were many very interesting ones. I will have to come back to have breakfast here!! As a restaurant I think it's good, just don't come with the idea that it's Mexican food ? But everything I ate was delicious ;)
