We came here for a pre-theater dinner. The patio is quite charming. I would love to be there a little later in the evening when it would be darker, all of the lights would be very romantic. We tried the special appetizer, an eggplant dish, and it was very good. Just the right portion to share as an appetizer and allow for an entrée. We shared the salmon with capers and tried the special of the day, shrimp risotto. We were both a bit disappointed with the salmon it lacked flavor....
Great service despite the fact that they are stretched thin. Really tasty fresh salad with light dressing to start. Have to ask for olive oil and or butter for the bread service. Maybe consider charging if this is meant to be a cost saving action? Most people don’t relish dry bread. I cleaned my entire plate of chicken Marsala. It was moist and tender and the sauce was really tasty. Substituted the spinach for the carrots and broccoli. Made a great meal! Had the panne cotta...
Once you discover and experience a meal at Gianni's, you'll be back. Food is always great as is the service. The outside courtyard is a perfect setting to enjoy Chicago summers.
