They had a pretty great deal on the restaurant week menu. The biscuits with the pimento cheese was mind blowing. I got the shrimp and grits and my boyfriend got the blackened fish. The shrimp and grits were good but I’ve had better. The grits were a bit too grainy for my liking- I like it smooth like butter. The blackened fish was really really good. We also got the banana pudding for dessert and it was yummy. Overall good experience!

One of our favorite Chicago dining experiences—Consistently excellent food, service and atmosphere!

dined in for a birthday dinner in chicago.

drinks did take a very long time to come out, almost 30 minutes, so that was a little frustrating but food was so delicious. my favorite was probably the mac n cheese or the chicken. everything had so much flavor, was so fresh, and definitely gave that home cooking vibe.

the ice cream (not pictured) that i got for a birthday dessert was completely melted, but our server did kindly get us another one. unfortunately that one didn’t taste very good either, but everything else was 10/10.

highly recommend!

Tenderism. short rib was delicious and paired well with the mashed potatoes. The half chicken was well seasoned and juicy and were complimented by the Brussels sprouts and games.
The Mac n cheese did not disappoint and the collard greens were well seasoned.

The service was very amicable and the atmosphere had a unique ambiance that welcomed you into Virtue. The corn bread was warm and paired well with the gumbo

The drinks were well made and the food was brought out for you in a comfortable time. I really enjoy with places do this for you

The desert was also kindly packaged to go upon our request.

A great experience I would go back!
Note the spots were close, but it was Valentine’s Day so I was impressed by how many spots they made and had available!

Will go back!

Wonderful experience! My girlfriend and I ordered the green tomatoes, fish & grits, steak med rare, and a side of cornbread. The food was very delicious. For dessert, we had the banana pudding and red velvet cake. Both desserts were yummy! We loved the ambiance and vibes. The staff are friendly as well.

The best gumbo, biscuits and short ribs i have ever had. Everything is cooked to perfection everytime I go and taste the same, if not better.
From the atmosphere, the open kitchen view, to the staff, everything/everyone is amazing.

This was our third time eating here and the food, service and overall experience just keeps getting better and I did not think this could happen as they were already at a high level.

We enjoyed our food very much. I will be back. The only issue I had was that I didn't read the bill closely. There was an additional charge for the employees. I paid it this time but probably won't next time.

I really enjoyed the food and music. I would prefer a more intimate setting as far as seating is concerned but the food and music were well worth it.

Great experience from start to finish. Beautiful decore. Great menu. Great service. I included my wife's dietary restrictions in my reservation and the server already had it and assisted us with the menu. Excellent for date night or anytime you want a great dining experience.

From beginning to end it was great. Took our coats, attended to us promptly and the team made sure every detail was perfect. The fried green tomatoes and biscuits were excellent. Our short ribs and blackened catfish exceeded our expectations. The bread pudding was to die for. Drinks were curated well. A great atmosphere for a Valentines night. Shout out to Henry our server!

Virtue is one of the restaurants we always visit when we're in Chicago. The food, the drinks, the service are always top tier! This visit, we shared the gumbo, cornbread, and mac and cheese. My entree was the salmon and my husband had the fish and grits. We ordered the banana pudding to go. They don't have to go utensils, so we had to find utensils at our hotel. All in all, Virtue is fantastic and we can't wait for our next visit!

Absolutely incredible dining experience. Every bite was amazing. It's not a. Incidence that every single table had an order of cornbread on it! It was the collard greens that stole the show for us! I also can't say enough about how exquisite the service was. Attentive, unobtrusive and friendly all at once. Would HIGHLY recommend!

As a southerner, food transports me back home faster than anything else, and I will be thinking about those short ribs until I make it back to Hyde Park. They were so tender that I'm surprised they didn't fall apart on the walk from the kitchen to the table. Short ribs are probably on my last supper list, and I'm asking the chef at Virtue to make them. My partner had the fish and grits and licked the plate clean. We shared the biscuits and pimento cheese, and the Mac n cheese, both were excellent. We both had cocktails and I had a glass of wine with dinner. The folks working there were incredible. The only feedback I'd offer was that the bar was very very slow. Our food came out well before our drinks, which was really unfortunate because the drinks were unique and delicious. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu! As someone who lived in Hyde Park for 5+ years, I'm glad to see a restaurant like Virtue thriving. It's worth the trip to Hyde Park just to enjoy the food and support an amazing restaurant.
