They let the group entered the phone number seat in a table before us. They arrived after we did. They literally put their phone number in front of my face and somehow, the brilliant server lead them to their seats before us and telling me they called to be in line earlier. I’ve patiently waited for an hour, and I don’t know what was the deal with this cutting line thing. If you have a wait in line phone call ahead, I get that. Reservations works that way. But these people literally joined the line in front of my face?! Are you kidding me!?

A neighborhood gem - we actually prefer dim sum here to at a Chinatown. Great food (expected) and friendly service (not always expected unfortunately at authentic Asian restaurants). We also appreciate upscale amenities that the restaurant provides. Little details do matter...

One of the few great Chinese Restaurants for dinner!Make sure to come early when the restaurant opens, there is usually a long line. Since this place is small, I disliked the seatings. All the tables were so close to the next. People from the next tables, front tables, and the ones in line kept staring at one another, so it was very uncomfortable to enjoy your meal.Ordered the twin lobster with sticky rice (MP varies), fish fillet with green onion and ginger, and a veg/mushroom/celery dish. All were very tasty but oily, but that's in all Chinese cuisine. Everything came out very quickly. Very nice staffs! Although the sticky rice had a good texture, I preferred steamed white rice. This place definitely brought back most noglastic flavors. Highly recommend and definitely come back for more!

You know it's legit w you see there's only 1 white people in this restaurant Tried 8 dishes, nothing's bad but some are exceptional Plum duck: not too sweet. Love the flavor. Only down side is quit bony Salted egg yolk pumpkin: so good! Love salted egg yolk on everything! The slight sweetness of pumpkin and the crispy skin with tender inside is a perfect match. Eat it when it's hot. Otherwise it'll be too fishy when it's cold Pork belly chicken stew: actually it's pork stomach. Lots of white pepper and umami flavor, great soup to warm you up in cold Chicago winter Crispy fish: a special treat from Cantonese food. They raise the fish in a special way their meat gets real crispy. Interesting texture Rice Eel with pepper: quite underwhelming but white people seems to love it. Meat is quite chewy but lack of flavor Fried rice: lots of shrimp, a decent fried rice Double layered milk: too much gelatin, not enough milk flavor but glad to have this in Chicago Nice little Cantonese restaurant just outside of Chinatown

Now called jmseafood. No more chopsuey. 3312 s halsted. 3122852866 No rez but leave your phone number and they'll call when table available. Friday night it was jammed. And very noisy. We sat w 3 strangers at table for 12 in sw corner. Had lobster and crab on sticky rice and frog in bamboo tube. Beef chow fun excellent. Hours not posted and Yelp still has old name and address. Good if you can stand the noise. All Chinese young people there. They have a private room which would be good for a group. But i miss la mom kitchen that used to be at that location. May use private room for a group. It you can stand noise try jmseafood. You won't regret. Mostly young female Chinese customers

Finally had a chance to visit the new location…new for us and probably a yr old for most lolThey used to be in this small space where I believe had only 10 tables including two big tables…there always 2hrs wait so u need to be here before 530pm to get a table LOL  even carry out is an hour or two wait….(weekends)Now with a bigger space, much better!  I think there like 8 smaller tables and 4 big table + two rooms for private dining…The food is probably one of the best in Chicago if not the best!  Forget MH, its not for Chinese ppl lol  they are expensive for below average food and small portion lolThis place, the price is reasonable and OK portion and the food are very yummy! We have two adult here and two kids under 7.  We ordered our usual….two lobster w/ rice, stir fried clams, a veggie dish, fried pork, a noodles dish, three dessert and a chinese medicine drink….Vegetarian options: Only a few vegetarian optionsParking: It's china town!! Very difficult to find parking especially there is no Lot lolKid-friendliness: Kids love the dessert but no kid menuWheelchair accessibility: Front door not automatic

Very friendly and attentive service. Food is fresh and tasty. Have fairly priced items selection for both authentic Chinese food and American Chinese food.Highly highly recommend:1️⃣ White pepper chicken and pork stomach soup: huge portion, umami, nutritious. You can see this item on every single table. However, if you aren't used to eating viscera, please do not order.2️⃣ Old fashioned Steamed fish: fish is freshly caught. They have various live fish at MP. If you choose the old fashioned method to steam, they'll fillet the whole fish.3️⃣ Lobster: we didn't order it this time but it's another popular item here.4️⃣ Plum sauce duckTheir vegetables are good too! Not too greasy.

Food is tasty. The prices might be a little high, but the food taste really good ! It is worth it. Might be crowded at times, so prepare to stand and wait !

Food here was soooo delicious. Especially loved the salted egg yolk fried pumpkin. Salt and pepper egg tofu was also good. Ginger crab too.

We visited for lunch on a Monday and were promptly seated. The restaurant's interior design has a modern flair following its relocation. Our order included duck with plum sauce, fish fillets with ginger & onion, stir-fried dry mushroom with garlic, and salted egg yolk fried pumpkin - it’s honestly so hard to pick a favorite, as all dish were very well seasoned with a balanced flavor that evoked the comfort of home-cooked meals. The menu is so extensive and we are excited to return to try out more dishes!

Quite good! Very soothing and little towards the blander side of taste, which is very fine! Food was good and homestyle.Very pleasant meal! Definitely try the chicken soup!

I usually have “sensitive” stomach to seafood. So the dish either be very fresh and I love it, or ..Meh. I saw lots of good reviews about this one and we really liked to try the “pepper, pork belly and chicken soup” and decided to give it a try.Sadly, a bad decision. We ordered the popular soup, the typhoon shelter clams, stewed eel in pot; the latter of which were also listed on menu as “MP” for market price, which means they are meant to be picked alive, then cooked and supposed to be very fresh. However, none of them is fresh. Yes, I can tell. Two obvious reasons: 1. they were all served onto table in 5 mins, how can all 3 dishes with their materials be picked fresh, and cooked fresh in such a short time? 2. although I doubted it I still wanted to give a try, maybe the chef and his team is super efficient? But, after first bite we all knew… the smell (of the soup, and the eel). the texture (of the clams) , eww. All were telling us an obvious thing: these are all pre-cooked, using frozen materials or something worse. I felt sick after couple of bites and we ended up only finishing the vegetable and left as soon as possible.Service is ok, to be fair. Vibe looks ok, but table top and utensils not clean.I will never come back, or recommend this restaurant to any friend.

Went back a few more times. The pork belly and chicken soup and the lobster sticky rice looked like it was at every table. So I'll try that when I have a larger party. Food still delicious. Service quick and reliable.
