Zeitlin's Delicatessen offers excellent bagels and friendly service. Catered bagel platters were loved by all, including New Yorkers. The pastrami was unreal. The challah French toast and the grilled cheese sandwich were outstanding. The banana bread was REALLY good. The owner makes all the bread, pastries, and bagels in-house. Guests appreciate the hospitality and the warm, personal experience. The staff is great, the space is clean and bright, and the menu offerings are strong. It’s a rare Chicago sandwich place with the option to include fresh, crisp veggies like carrots, cucumbers, and red peppers. Some say these are the best bagels ever, even better than any NY bagels. Others note the bagels have pretty good chewiness for a Midwestern attempt but are still too soft overall and lack the crispness of a true NY style bagel. Zeitlin’s is a place built around community, great food, and authentic connections. A must-visit for an incredible deli experience.
