In a city not known for culinary excellence, the Gin Mill is the exception. Had a delightful pork chop dinner recently. The decor with its high ceilings and beautiful bar is way above average. Slight complaint was caesar salad dressing was rather excessive and mediocre. Service was attentive, perhaps a little too much so. Given the local alternatives, I would go back in a minute.

The place was fantastic! The decor was great, our server was friendly, and the food was awesome. After taking a bite of the fresh warm loaf of bread that brought out I knew I made a great choice for dinner. Lobster bisque was good. My wife enjoyed her tacos, and my gouda bacon burger was possibly the best burger I've ever had. I doubled down on gouda with a side of their Mac n cheese. The worst part about the meal was how stuffed I was from cramming in every last bite. I'm not from the area but would drive the 3 hours to eat here again. Would love them to open one in Lake or Cook County I'd be a regular without a doubt

Went here for our 1st year anniversary. We went at lunch when they just opened. They were very friendly when we walked in. We had reservations as it was recommended, and I'm glad we did. I had the triple hamburger, and my wife had the lunch special that was Cod. Both meals were great, and we both agreed we would have no issues going back. It's not a loud place like some other restaurants. It was nice to have a conversation with your meal without yelling.There are lots of options on the menu don't pass this place up.Parking: There is a lot of street parking available. Also, there is a large parking lot in the back if needed.
