burl Reviews
This was the 2nd time we’ve been to Burl and this time we brought friends…. The food, drink, and atmosphere were just as excellent!
Delicious. Fun to find a dining experience in evanston
This is our second visit to Burl, and it did not disappoint! The food is ultra fresh and the flavors are vibrant. The ricotta honey spread, the carrots with a dreamy black lime yogurt sauce and the trout were standout dishes.
The service was attentive and unfussy, which I appreciated
This spot is such a great addition to the North Shore.

Burl is a great addition to the North Shore, offering a unique farm-to-table dining experience. The menu changes with the seasons, with vegetables coming from local farms, and the rotating menu provides new options for frequent visitors. The food is ultra fresh with vibrant flavors. Standout dishes include the ricotta honey spread, chicken liver pate, carrots with a dreamy black lime yogurt sauce, and the trout. The chicken liver pate is as good as the best in Lyon, France. Other favorites are the sirloin, bolognese, and fish&chips, which are excellent, crispy, and very light. The vegetables are brilliantly presented, especially the corn, carrot, peaches and eggplant dishes. Bread service with butter/ham and ricotta cheese isn’t to be missed, and the spreads and bread are definitely worth trying. The wine list is well-matched to the food and progressive, with Michigan reds available. The atmosphere is very nice and comfortable, and the aroma of the wood fired oven creates a great atmosphere. Brunch is a wonderful experience with comfortable outdoor seating and exceptional servers. The service is attentive and unfussy. The drinks are good, but the herby ones will be herbaceous. This is a wine and dine type place, so expect to have plenty of time to talk at the table. It can be quite loud on a busy night, so those with hearing issues may want to avoid peak hours. Mandatory gratuity on to go orders is noted as an issue. Overall, Burl provides an excellent experience with delicious food and a comfortable atmosphere.
