“My wife and I go there about once a week for breakfast. Great food and a large menu. Mexican breakfast entrees are particularly good. The servers, particularly Lupe, are excellent--attentive and efficient, even when they're crowded. Best breakfast place I've ever experienced.“

I have previously purchased and enjoyed their 8oz offering and came back for the 5lb sack. “We had Cafe 53 cater our entire wedding and the food was phenomenal! Our guests can’t stop talking about the smoked brisket to this day. Jess and her team are amazing to work with and their communication through out the entire process was great. While they have a standard catering menu, they are willing to make whatever you want and cater to your dietary needs. We had a bbq/comfort food style menu and it was a hit. The staff was on time with their services and were on top of it the entire time. The cost was a great price as well which is always a bonus. So thankful that we went with Jess and Cafe 53 for our big day!“

“This hidden gem serves the Campus of the University of Chicago and those of us who come in off the street! My parents (both 81) and I came in for lunch. We couldn’t find it at first, but a nice young man happily told us where it was. Inside one of the campus buildings.

We had croissant sandwiches, with side salads and Topo Chico. There was beautiful outdoor seat - most of which was all ready bustling with interesting people (great people watching) enjoying the beautiful weather, wine and fellowship with a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright house (I believe) right next to them.“

“First time here and definitely worth trying. The chicken is soft and well seasoned with the jerk flavors. Mac and cheese is cheesy and good. Cabbage is good..now the red beans and rice tasted like rice a roni..it didn’t have that real flavor of red beans and rice plus I think all I got was like three beans. Then it came with some sauce that was sweet, rubbed me the wrong way. But overall I would recommend for anyone to try for themselves.“
