“We just celebrated my wife's surprise 65th birthday Sunday with 14 family members. We chose El vado #2 Mexican Restaurant and couldn't be any happier. From them going out of their way purchasing ballons and banners to her complimentary frozen ice cream the service, food and drinks were phenomenal. Very warm and welcoming staff. Very appreciative of your business and fantastic atmosphere. Thank you for this memory. Never felt rushed. Everyone in our family raved on how great it was and was one of our best parties ever. Familiar with their other restaurant in McHenry which is also excellent and reasonably priced. You have to try this place if you like mexican food. A+++“

“We were driving thru IL and I found this taco place on my drive. Decided to give it a try. Ended up getting steak, chicken and pork tacos to try. I would rate my favorite in the order. I would come again if I passing thru. Some places in the past have a little station with onions, pico, etc. Be nice to have that. That’s my only complains.“

“Do not be fooled that this hidden gem is located at a gas station! A group of us were randomly in the area and used google to look for a place to eat when we found Mr. Cesar’s restaurant. The food was some of the best Mexican food I’ve had! Mr. Cesar was super friendly even though we came in with a large group when they were near closing. We came back a second time on the way back from Rockford because I was craving it. The tacos (I love the chicharron tacos), the pozole and the mole chicken were some of the best I’ve had. We’re far up north and don’t live near, but will make it everytime we have to go out to Rockford (for sports cards shows). Thanks Mr. Cesar and your chefs for making such great food and to you for being so hardworking and hospitable. See you soon!“

“Sont judge the place from the parking lot, it is very big inside and it deserves 5 star rating. I had ribeye taco dinner! The beat tacos i ever had. My wife had a fajita and it was delicious. Absolutely the best Mexican place in the 20 miles radius. Highly recommended.“

I also did not have any chicken nuggets from the kids meal, They also had no Lengua tacos and only enough steak to make three tacos. Christian, our server answered our many questions about the food and emboldened us to try selections we’d never had before! I loved the charbroiled skirt steak, ceviche, those pork appetizers I’ve never heard of, and my frozen strawberry margaritas. Others at the table had enchiladas, tamales, sangria and beer. “When I arrived I had encountered quite the environment, firstly I really needed to piss so I entered the bathroom only to see a severed head in one of the urinals. Honestly I wasn't too focused on it as I REALLY needed to pee. I was seated near a cracked window but frankly, it just added to the atmosphere you know? My waitress Amanda was really sweet to me, nice woman... until I saw her go off on an family that was eating there... had a weird grudge against the grandma. I got my jamón al vapor quite quickly and the taste is even better. Now I am not one to nitpick, but when I requested I get one of those tiny umbrellas for my water what I got in return was a tiny skateboard instead, not ideal but I made it work. Overall would recommend, just stay out of the 2nd stall in the male restroom... that's my stall.“
