Whatever comes to mind when you picture "pasta store" I can assure you this unique specialty store will exceed expectations. Squid ink pasta, rainbow pasta, sundried tomato pasta... all available in every shape under the sun. Novelty shapes in everything from your favorite sports team's logo to princess crowns and cat paws. Cooking gadgets like ravioli stamps and spaetzle graters and--my personal favorite--bow tie pasta shaped pot holders. Seriously, you name it, they've got it. I can't recommend this place enough, whether you're looking for a unique gift or a foodie on the hunt for something special for your next night in the kitchen.

Galena, Illinois, is a great destination for chocolate lovers and Pasta Perfetta is a great place for anyone who loves spaghetti or lasagna. You don't have to be Italian to appreciate Pasta Perfetta. Located at 220 South Main Street, inside the DeSoto House Hotel, Pasta Perfetta opened in 2011. It offers 62 flavors of pasta, 138 shapes and many specialty pastas made in the United States, Italy and Germany. Open from 10 to 5 Monday through Friday, 10 to 6 on Saturday and 9 to 5 on Sunday, it offers a variety of pasta brands, including colorful, white, flavored gluten free, organic, cheesy and spatzel/German. Also available are soups, chili, sauces, pesto, risotto, snacks and desserts. My wife, who is half-Italian and whose father was born in Italy, and I always take home several items. On our most recent visit, we purchased minestrone bean soup, classic chili and chicken noodle soup, tomato basil sauce, traditional marinara sauce, roasted garlic sauce, linguini, spaghetti a stella and lasagna. We purchase traditional brands like Barilla, Bertolli, Classico and even Paul Newman from our local grocer. But the Italian brands from Pasta Perfetta have a thoroughly Italian flavor from Rome and Naples.

Great shop with a fantastic selection. I was amazed but not familiar with the types of flavors and how o use them. My questions were met with a smug, condescending, arrogant attitude so I refused to buy anything. Maybe if I visit again this nasty person won't be working there.

Unique shapes and flavors of pasta. Many, many kinds. Choices that we never found anywhere else. Staff was helpful too. Worth a visit

Pasta up to your eyeballs at this store. They have run of the mill spaghetti and stuff and what I was looking for, orecchiette, and pasta in various colors and stuff too. I bought some rainbow colored orecchiette, which was fun. They also have pasta that is labeled with various universities in the region; Illinois State, Wisconsin, University of Iowa, etc. They have dog shaped pasta, as well as other interest-based ones. The biggest issue for me is that it was so incredibly high priced. The pasta I bought was $15 per bag. I know it's imported, but... wow. What I buy at the store is maybe as high as $2.50 per bag. In addition to all the pasta you could ever want, they have some other food items and culinary tools.

We went in for the first time this week, cool store. My mom and I were each about to spend $50 until we came in contact with the owner. She was so rude, immediately turned us off. This town had such cool businesses with the sweetest people working that we enjoyed talking with and then we went in here.. all I have to say is yikes! Not sure why someone so rude and grumpy would be running a business working with people! Bummed!

Love the hundreds of options of pastas, flavors and shapes. Was fun to try some options not carried by regular grocery stores. If you have kids this is a must stop for kid-friendlyshapes for Mac and cheese. Who wouldn’t want a cat shaped Mac and cheese?
