“Was very surprised how nice the inside of this place was! Super cozy, clean bar to grab a beer and throw a couple $20s into the machine. This place is cash only, though, so that's the only downfall.”
“Traveling for a family road trip we had stored across the street to get gas and asked a lady at the pump next to us if the restaurant across the street was any good. She sang their praises lol. She wasn’t wrong. We were greeted courteously and quickly, we had our two young boys with us and the lady was very quick to make them feel comfortable. The lady helped us get our order in quickly and to go. Food was amazing and fast and amazing to eat on the go.”
“I put in an online order and had an excellent and easy time using app. When I showed up I had the best experience all the employees are amazing. Very impressed loved every second I spent there. Food tasted very good and most definitely will be going back. Love it keep up all the hard work!”
“these are easily some of the best tacos I've ever had! the various meats (we had the pollo, pastor, and carne molida) were all seasoned/marinated/flavored to perfection. (and you absolutely must try the salsa verde and rojo with the tacos; I think those were actually my favorite of all the food.) the cilantro and onion toppings were both super fresh, the chips were literally still warm from being fried, the salsa was just a notch spicy to compliment the rest of the food. we also got a side of rice which was seasoned enough to go well but not overpower the rest of the food. I fully plan on going out of my way to come here again anytime I'm even nearby the area.”
“Route 66 themed decor, friendly staff, prompt service. Corned beef skillet was excellent. Even the rye toast was better than many family restaurants offer. I stop here often as it's really conveniently accessed from I-55.”
“My husband, daughter and I were just at the Joel Horkstra/Brandon Gibbs show. We had such a good time. Everyone was so nice, too. We hope to be back. We didn’t order any food but what I saw, it all looked good. (Using my husband's account to write this)”
“Even though they only take cash this is my go-to place for burgers. They are hands down the best burgers I've had in Illinois. There's just something about a juicy cheeseburger and Babe's Tap gets it so right!”
“PIE!!!Shut up, forget the diet! Who cares if it's 8am? Get a slice of pie!!! ?Kid-friendliness: Babies are held, toddlers are explained to. All kids are treated like their kids.”
“Ordered pizzas tonight for the first time here and it was amazing, some of the best tasting pizzas we have had. We will definitely be ordering again, thanks for the amazing supper tonight!!”
“I love it when I go to this coffee shop. I always get greeted with a smile. I have been in twice this month and both times my iced coffee that I order (peppermint mocha) has been so good. Normally I have to add sugar to my coffee but the past two I have not. They were so delicious that I was sad the cup was empty. Also the double chocolate muffin is so good when you have a chocolate craving.”
“Although the food here is a bit pricey. This place has the best Mexican food around. Make sure you ask for limes and hot sauce for your meal, as they don’t just give it to you anymore. You will have to pay extra for those limes and hot sauce now.”
“Delivered our food in a timely manner. Food was simply delicious. The mango habanero chicken was sweet and slightly spicy not too much, and the chopped salad is definitely something to try. Pizza is always great.”
“We love this restaurant! The Korner Keg has two sides of their facility; one is more of a bar and the other is for dining. The two sides are connected; you can also enter the dining side directly from Main St. We found the dining side to be very family-friendly. They even put Toy Story on for the two kids who were eating there. The service was incredibly friendly, and their pizza was delicious. If you are a ranch + pizza person, I highly recommend their ranch which they make in-house.Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is family-friendly! If you enter through the bar side, you can easily walk through to the dining side.”
“The server working today was great, wish I would have tipped him more in heinsight hindsight- was surprised at the salty water and the 5$ up charge for avocado but the food was really great, would ”
“We traveled a distance to meet family. Our table was perfect. In a quiet corner. If I had a negative, it would be that when we were served our soup, I asked for crackers or bread. The server told us they were out and had nothing to offer. We had 6 in our group, and we all enjoyed our meals.”
“Nice little place to grab a quick bite to eat. Place is small- only about 10 tables in the whole place. Kids meals are $11, but are a healthy size and come with a drink and vanilla ice cream. Food came out quick. I would come back again.”
“Best bar food ever!! Audrey was our server and she is absolutely amazing!! She ensured we were served promptly, our food was hot and the beers cold!! Hands down, best bar in the area!!”
“I love The Cove! The teas taste amazing! There are so many flavors and add-ins to choose from. The staff is always friendly, welcoming and helpful. Love the protein coffee and meal replacement shakes too! They do so much for the community. It's a great place!”
“I'm not the biggest Mexican food person but they do have great nachos. And I'm not a big drinker, nor can I handle tequila, so if you're looking for a margarita review you'll have to look elsewhere. But their strawberry daquiris... ??? ”
“If you have never been to the Stumble Inn, you are indeed missing out. Make room on your calendar for a visit. It is the only bar I know of that offers free unicorn rides to kids in their spacious beer garden. It truly is fun for the whole family.”
“Great service and then the other great thing ever is the best way people treat you. You can come to the small town and then your going to be here for the rest of your life. It's that comfortable to be in a bit of a"small spot" and then feel free to be here..So cool!”
“My wife and I have been coming here since we moved to Dwight. We decided to get breakfast here and loved it. The food has always been fantastic and now we’ve had the breakfast.”
“Mashed potatoes and gravy were kind of good except they microwave the Styrofoam so you get that chemical taste in the food. Plus the potatoes were instant. I was hungry and so I ended up dipping the fries in the gravy. The mashed potatoes I had to throw away. The grilled cheese was dry and the bread was pretty firm But that may have been my fault, asking for light butter”
“Wheelchair accessibility: Random stop for food while driving . No sign on freeway , Lucky random find . Definitely worth a try if you have the chance. Philly cheese steak deep dish was awesome and chicken bacon ranch pizza roll was great tooThanks Dwights for a nice meal..”
“Whoever is behind the grill slinging those chorizo con huevo tacos this morning deserves a Nobel peace prize cuz GYATT DAM my faith in humanity is restored. I salute you sir.”
“Best Bar & Grill around! Make sure to go there Sunday for wings, Monday for trivia, or honestly any day of the week! Wonderful owners, staff, and some of the best regulars around!”
“Passing through town and I stopped by on a whim. Boy did I nail it! They were very welcoming. Seems like the perfect hangout for this small town. The bartender (Felicia) was awesome with a great sense of humor. If I lived in the area it would be my go to.Great local bar with top notch service!”
“I spotted a pub, a nice brick structure attached to a house. Like many neighborhood pubs, the sign showed the Old Style beer logo. I walked in through the doors. I attracted attention. Nobody cared that I had insisted on wearing a mask. I looked unfamiliar.A woman called out, "How are you doing, sweetie?" "Oh, I'm fine. Passing through. I stopped for Tom's Sweet Corn, and need to stretch my legs." A man smiled, "So, you're not a local." I thought, "It would take a lifetime to become a local. All I need to do is sit down and order an Old Style." "I live over in Streator," I offered, hoping to look local enough. A woman squealed, "I'm from Streator!" "How about that. I'm thirty miles east of Streator and I meet a neighbor!" I excused myself. I had downed an extra large soda at Jimmy Johns in downtown Kankakee. The rest rooms shared a sink in the hall between the biffys. The wood door suggested an age of one hundred years old or more. Wood gets drier and lighter as it ages. The door handles reminded me of the late Nineteenth Century, just a touch hand made.I wondered, "Should I buy a bar stool buddy a shot to say thanks for a clean restroom?" I walked over to the bar. I spotted a freezer stocked with six dollar frozen pizzas. Not one vegan pizza I felt sure. Hunger had arrived. A set of coolers showed off all the cans for sale. "Might I buy a Coke?" The woman bartending probably owned the bar. "Sure, that will be a dollar". Thank you I said as I gave her two dollars. "It's only a dollar, hon." "I wish to show my gratitude," I said with a smile."What brings you this way?" said the man who deduced my traveling status. "I was in Kankakee." "Kankakee? What brought you to Kankakee?" "I'm learning how to be a census taker. I count twenty at the pub. Let me write that down." He laughed. I had satisfied his curiosity by making him laugh. "You take care of yourself, hon," said the one woman who greeted me first when I came inside. "Yes, please take care of yourself, too. I'll be back".It seemed like the right thing to say. I stepped out the door into the rays of a sun setting to the west. A John Deere gator, a blend between a tractor and a golf cart, proceeded towards Tom's corn. I spotted a few more as I drove to Tom's to score a dozen sweet ears.Tom's yard looked like a John Deere commercial. One farmer arrived pulling a hay wagon full of people behind his yellow and green John Deere tractor. A man set at the wheel of his gator, closest to the picnic table where awaited the corn. "Hey, I bet you're Tom!" "That's right, I'm Tom." "Are you hosting a corn roast, Tom?" "Nope, it's a community gathering." "Might I pick out a few ears?" "Sure, hello yourself. There's the cash box. Put in what you want. Put in nothing. Take all you want."I started to fill a plastic bag after sliding two dollars in the slot cut in the cash box. I thought that fair for six ears. "What's the event, Tom?" "It's a community picture. We just repainted our town sign, and fixed up the landscaping." I hadn't noticed. People kept arriving in vans, by car and even by ATV. "Is this a Lions Club project?" "Nope. We disbanded our club. The national wanted too much money every year. We just do our own community club. A long time resident left money in a will for the sign".He patted the seat of his gator. "Any body need a ride." The sign stood right across the street. "Thank you, Tom. How long will you be picking sweet corn?" "Straight through Labor Day. You drive through often?" "First time by. Have a good night."I counted twenty people walking over from the pub. It looked as if every two hundred citizens of Reddick planned to pose, smiling at the sunset. Soon, I”
“went here with my family to try it is as its down the street from my work. They are super friendly, the prices are on point and the food is great for a quick bite to eat. Don't let the outside appearance deter your from trying this place out.”
“Good litte stop through. Grab some bar food. Couple beers. Friendly bartender and regulars. Pool table, darts, and gaming. Who doesn't love a little dive bar with good food!”
