Amazing food and service
Without question, the best Mexican restaurant….ever. Family owned and operated. Phenomenal menu with very high quality fresh ingredient. Steak Tacos are insane! Outstanding service in a very clean, comfortable and quiet room.

Monarca Mexican Grill is a small, family owned and operated restaurant. It offers fresh flavors, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes customers feel like they are eating in their Mexican grandma’s kitchen. The restaurant is spotless, the music is great, and the menu is filled with classic Mexican staples done right. Customers mention the chips and salsa, the fish tacos, the grilled chicken burrito bowl, the Steak Tacos, the Chicken Mole Fries, and the Chicken Flautas. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The portions are more generous than expected. The chef/owner takes the time to speak with customers and explain the quality of the ingredients they use. The service is outstanding, friendly, and better than expected. The room is clean, comfortable, and quiet. Dessert is homemade. The restaurant is in the back of a strip mall and hard to see from the street, but there is a sign in the front of the mall on Waukegan. It looks nice inside, and the staff are smiling and very friendly. This little gem has earned a place on regular rotation for many customers.
