“Babes is a great bar and reataraunt in Coal City. I stopped in on a Monday night after work to celebrate a friend's birthday and was not disappointed. Walking in the front door, the bar is open and inviting. There are gambling machines and a shuffle board table there to pass the time. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by Bri. I ordered a beer and a couple appetizers to start. The kitchen is in the front of the house so you can see your food prepared. The jalapeño poppers were a standard deep fried jalapeño with cream cheese, fried to a perfect brown crust on the outside and a creamy spicy inside. The cheese curds are an above average variety. The batter is salty and crunchy which pairs perfectly with the melted gooey cheese on the inside. Next up was the burger. I ordered a hamburger and fries which was recommended by everyone in the place. It did not disappoint. Grilled to order and seasoned with the confidence of an experienced cook. If you are in the area and want a great meal at a great place, stop in and check them out. I know I will be back when I'm in town.”

“The food is a well made tasty mean. The staff is friendly and likely to chat with you if you stir up a conversation. The corn chowder soup is one of my favorites and worth trying. Just don’t judge the food by the look of the entrances and the worn look. It is a favorite of the locals.”

“Popped in here for my first lunch of Route 66 and it was a great decision. The atmosphere is fun and kitschy with statues outside, a 50s feel inside, and even bathrooms with fun theming. The food is reasonably priced and cooked to order. I thought the burger was decent, but the chili cheese fries were the highlight. Those are a must order. I also thought the shake was above average. If you start 66 in the morning, the Polk A Dot is perfectly placed to be your first lunch and I can't think of a better way to start your trip.”

“My husband and I love Mimi’s! Their coffee is delicious and they have a lot of drink options. We always get their jalapeño bacon egg cheese bagel - it’s amazing ✨

“Visited the Clubhouse Coal City with former classmates tonight & had an absolutely awesome dinner. Bloody Mary was top notch & one of our friends ordered a caramel Apple Martini that looked scrumptious 🥰 I ordered the much talked about ribs & was not disappointed ❣️❣️❣️They were fall off the bone tender; dripping with deliciousness ❤️❤️The sauce was a fabulous complex of flavors that satisfies every point on your palate - a 10 star delight on a plate🤩🤩 Salad was super fresh with just the right amount of added extras 😉I ordered the mashed potatoes & again the seasoning was right on point. Service was excellent 😍 I guarantee you I will be back, with more people, as this restaurant does not disappoint!!!”

“My daughters hosted a 65th birthday party for us at Old School Brewery with Nelly’s catering. We had an odd request, as we usually get their burgers when we go there. My daughters worked with Nelly’s and planned a Burger Bar complete with toppings, potato salad, baked beans, veggies, fruit and green salad! It was amazing! We really enjoyed it and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Thank you for working with us and for making that work! So anyone planning a party and are burger fans, check out their burger bar! “My wife and I love this place. This is a small family run restaurant best suited for carry out. The service is fast and the food always fresh and hot. To me, the General Tso's and Orange chicken is as good, if not better, as other big name Chinese restaurants I've tried. The Crab Rangoons are awesome.
One suggestion would be to add a small cup the red sweet and sour sauce for the Crab Rangoons and egg rolls (I keep forgetting to request it...lol).”
