Female owner is extremely rude and unwelcoming even after I told her I was interested in ordering out, but needed to use the restroom first (5 months pregnant).

The food was good in taste and presentation.
The place has a good atmosphere. Food was good in portion. I asked for chuleta kankan. And that thing is huge. The picture doesn't do it any justice. But it was well seasoned and crispy, around the edges. I highly recommend this dish, but make sure that you have someone to help you eat it.

Where can I start?! El Buren has been our go-to bar/destination for our after work Happy Hour! The Pina Coladas are beyond amazing and just what we need to drown our work sorrows away. The staff here is top-notch. Shoutout to Andy and Florencia who consistently serve my sister, friend, and I the best Pina Coladas in the northern suburbs (dare I say Chicago). A hidden gem! Great music, low-key atmosphere and service. The chef/owners go out of their way to get to know their customers and provide excellent drinks, food and friendly atmosphere where ALL feel welcome and like family! Please do yourself a favor and give this place a visit. You will NOT be disappointed.

Food here is outstanding. It's a bit more expensive (a lot more) than any of the Howard street restaurants, down by Evanston, but I'd say it was a bit better in some aspects and there's also a full service bar, so take the good with bad. Nice atmosphere tends to be a bit more mod than was comfortable, but the food and service more than made up for that.
Wonderful broths, fresh seafood and veg. Probably not next week, but we're definitely going back. Good show!

Parking: Street parking can be a bit of a challenge, depending on when you're going, but there are more free lots there, nowadays, so you should be able to find something. You may have to walk a block. *meh*

Very much enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at El Buren. Excellent, friendly and attentive staff. Our meals were extremely flavorful and spicy, delicious! We also enjoyed a couple rounds of mojitos, well crafted and with fresh garnish! The plantains and empanadas were also excellent! We will definitely be back!!

The food was no good. I wouldn’t recommend. We had a Bifongo. The shrimp was tasteless, the garlic sauce that came with it did not help and to make it worse the Bifongo itself was just horrible. I eat Mofongo, Bifongo and Trifongo all the time and this is by far the worse I’ve had. We addressed it with our waiter, who returned with the response of “when the yuca is removed or not included it changes the taste”. Sir, of course the taste won’t be the same with the yuca, but that is no excuse for how horrible the dish was. There are other issues I could address here about my experience, but the terrible dish took the cake. Like literally took the cake. In that I mean, we had a slice of coconut cake prior to our main meal and it was reasonably good. But when the main dish arrived it took away from that.

First time here enjoying a delicious meal and great service. Everything was spectacular, I recommend trying Trifongo with fried meat and Veracruz-style fish. I will definitely be back!

We absolutely loved this place and Nayeli did a fabulous job as our server. We will definitely be back. I’m so happy that this place is close to our town. We have walked by several times and decided to give it a try; they did not disappoint. We recommend canoa de platano maduro appetizer and any of the steak dishes.

We'd gotten take out a few times during the pandemic and finally made it over to the restaurant to dine-in. The food was just as delicious and the service and vibes were amazing. We'll be back!

Food lacked authentic flavor. Most of the food felt like it was jumbled together. Drinks watered down. Service was quite subpar and took really long when we were the only table in the entire restaurant. Half the restaurant was dark with the lights turned off. Employee was cleaning cobwebs around the store and very close to our table. It is better to stick with Caribbean food in the city.
