“I honestly thought this place was a coffee shop....but I guess in a way it really is. But it's a cozy mini casino. The vibe is really comfortable....and it's unique. The have cheap drinks....and free coffee, tea, and snacks. It's a must go.”
“Friendly old school bar, Dena is a great bartender, the other patrons are friendly and it's a nice place to relax and have a drink.Good music choices from the jukebox as well.”
“I stop there to get some tacos and God they were delicious!!! Asada and pastor just hit the spot! The horchata was so delicious too.Great atmosphere even though I ordered to go. The young lady who took my order was so nice and polite. She even offered me extra salsa and slices of lime for my tacos.Definitely I'll come back to eat in.”
“Woooow woooow y wooow! Súper recomendado! Los dueños y sus hijos etc super atentos! Todo es fresco, el agua de horchata de chocolate me encanto! Las tortillas hechas a mano en el momento, lo mejor de todo poder platicar con el dueño y su esposa y que nos compartieran su historia de como comenzaron, anécdotas y mucho más! Felicidades! Y que sigan creciendo!”
“Walking through New Chinatown we stopped to give this place a try, especially after seeing the Michelin awards poster for multiple years in a row. The wait was about 1hr and seating was very limited so plan ahead. Now once we were seated the service was fast and food came out in a timely manner. For the food I had mixed feelings, but want to start with saying that the food was good and very enjoyable. My only observation was that it was not a super flavorful taste ( little on the lightly seasoned side) but the texture and quality was on point. I had mixed feelings because I was expecting a bit more punch of flavor, especially since the Michelin ratings definitely grabbed our attention. Now the "pros" side of this is that you can eat alot of the food and not feel overwhelmed since flavor was more on the tamed side. That being said we enjoyed our meals and ordered multiple unique dishes and didn't feel overwhelmed. Walked away very satiated. Would definitely recommend with family style eating. Pork belly and dumplings were amazing!”
“I'm giving 4 or of 5 stars based on food taste preference. I ordered shrimp fried rice, spring rolls, Crab Rangoon, and pork pot stickers. Food was hot and fresh. Parking was free in front there's a step to get in so not wheelchair accessible. The restaurant was clean, I would order from here again.”
“The best birria I have ever eaten in my entire life. I've just been there for the first time and it's simply incredible. From the first place, I was involved in something difficult to explain, so many years passing and never having given them a chance or knowing the goodness of their food.”
“We were a party of 6 people, tried the black croquettes, corn Madeleine, the vegetables , the fried chicken and the salt. Everything was delicious. Cocktails were very good too. The service was a bit long but at the same time, it is pleasant to not be rushed in a restaurant and to have time to eat your plates without anyone asking you every 5 min if you were done.I will definitely be back”
“Food is really good but the shrimp that come with the asada are no buenos!! for the price I'd expect better quality shrimp and size!!! Hopefully they improve that ”
“Very impressive drinks and menu. A modern twist to Mexican food definitely 5 stars. Waiter was amazing at guiding me what to choose based on my traditional Mexican entrees I enjoy. Margaritas were AMAZING!!!!”
“The food tastes good. It’s creative. It looks good. It’s reasonably priced. Not cheap and not over the top. Good service. I just wish the noise level was lower. Else it’s the perfect place for a really good meal.”
“Food was OK but the service was outstanding. Nice atmosphere, a little tight in there they definitely try and cram as many people in as possible. We tried the arrachera and half chicken. Chicken was dry. Steak was OK, only some pieces were a little tough. If we're in the area again I would give it another try.”
“Really good food as well as excellent customer service. the staff were very hospitable and my waiter Johnny made sure we were well taken care of. Will definitely be back! Johnny gave very good recommendations, attended to all our needs, and made us feel welcome. Ask for Johnny if you want amazing service.”
“We came from Wisconsin to ouck up food from this joint!!! the food is STRAIGHT!!! DELICIOUS!!! Henry was very hospitable and a great person!!! thank you Henry for the great food!!! It was worth the 2 hour drive!!! we will be back!!!”
“2023 update: our first experience with the sushi here was impressive, but we have since ordered a few more times and I have to say that the food has been inconsistent. It's not bad and it's still a good value (esp. the party trays) , but it also hasn't lived up to that first tray the last few times we tried it. YMMV.Original review:Super friendly and helpful staff, fast delivery, and amazing sushi. Great value, too. My wife and I have lived in South Loop for years and have tried probably a dozen sushi restaurants in the area. This one is a little far from us so we didn't try it until today, but we were blown away by how tasty it was, especially given the affordable pricing and laid-back vibe.We got the Roll Out platter for ourselves and some friends. It's an incredible value for the amount of sushi included, and every roll was delicious. Fish portions were large and very fresh. A substantial part of the platter is "spicy" rolls which I was a little worried about - many sushi places grind up the meat into a mushy paste mixed with who-knows-what, but not here. These were easily the best spicy tuna, spicy salmon and spicy yellowtail rolls I've ever had - they're good-sized bits of quality meat mixed with a delicious spicy mayo sauce. No meat paste. They were delightful.Anyway, we may have found a new favorite sushi spot. I just wish we had tried it sooner!”
“First timer all we had was great chicken katsu, spicy pork, shredded pork forgot what it’s called and can’t forget the Spam musubi! So glad we have great food in Chicago.”
“This place was very good and authentic. I bought a couple pounds of chicharrones which came in huge slabs. If you just want to snack, it could use some seasoning, but for cooking it's perfect. The menudo was flavorful and thick and came with seasoning and sides. The staff were very busy when we arrived, but the owner was very nice and talkative. He explained everything in detail to my wife while I drooled over all the meat.”
“I’ve found one of the best ALL YOU CAN EAT HOTPOT experiences here in Chicagos south loop and it’s at Wagyu House! Everything is superior quality - the meats, the service and the ambiance. Their A5 Wagyu beef is FLOWN IN DAILY from Japan and Australia!!! Their AYCE option includes options like wagyu, crab legs, sushi, ramen, lobster and more; it’s unbelievably good! The shrimp balls were so good - Deep fried with a tasty sauce and I loved putting my crab legs in the broth and eating them warm; they honestly tasted great just chilled! This beautiful restaurant is great for a date night or girls night out and they even have happy hour and I love the little cute robot servers they have rolling around! The interior is very modern and even though there can be A LOT of people around, the noise doesn’t get overwhelming. Dont just take my word for it- go experience this amazing restaurant yourself!”
“Amazing little super vibey speakeasy tucked away in the back of the Moon Palace restaurant in Chinatown! Delicious small plates and even better cocktails! Order the Paradise Lost drink and you'll know what I'm talking about!”
“The food was okay... very fresh... didn't really care for some of the flavors. The lady at the front counter was not very nice. And they were out of the grits which is what we came in for.”
“I've been to Peanut Park twice! It was amazing both times. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. We had the focaccia (the ricotta reminds me of my trip to Italy *yum*), chicken parm, scallops, and more. My fave thing at Peanut Park is the tiramisu. The best!! We can't wait to go back.”
“My wife and I have never been to a Michelin star restaurant and now that we live in Chicago, we had plenty of options. For our second baby moon we decided to treat ourselves to an experience at El Ideas. The whole experience was amazing! The location is really unassuming and not in some pretentious building or area. It was such a laid back yet exquisite experience. Guests were allowed to wonder the space and take in the food preparation. You could ask questions of the chefs. It was really neat and nothing like I've ever experienced. Since there are a limited number of reservations the entire staff is really attune to guests needs. I have no complaints about any of the dishes. Some of the standout dishes were the shrimp dish which was an ode to the history of Chicago fried shrimp. The Swedish style meatball cooked in smoked beef tallow with gnocchi was so well balanced. The smoked duck bahn mi and smoke duck pho was amazing . The Lamb dish was out of this world! I'm still in awe of the vanilla shake and fries dessert. It was truly a work of art. The vanilla with the crunchy potato bits and potato and leak soup just worked. I could take one of those every day. This experience is definitely worth it! I hope to be back in the future!”
“All I can say is WOW! This steakhouse was incredible! Cannot recommend enough. The meat paradise was truly an experience and a delicious one at that. Our server, Leo, was probably one of the best servers we’ve ever had anywhere with his charismatic personality and caring service. He truly made this restaurant a memorable time! Forget about Brazilian steak houses or what not, money was WAY better spent here! Photo is before the delicious steak was grilled to our liking in front of us.”
“I just fell in love with the service. Drinks are “on point”. Food? Wow. Try the queso fundido con camarones. I am addicted to Oscar Valentin Margarita. 10 stars out of 10.”
“My guy and I dined there last night and I can only say that every aspect of this visit was, on a scale from 1 to 5, a 10. Atmosphere, service, cleanliness, promptly being seated AND served with a reservation, courteous waitstaff, and last but not least...every dish we tasted was superbly plated and tasted amazing. We had the restaurant week special with 3 entrees. We chose the pot roast, blackened salmon w/creamed spinach, honey chicken with fried pound cake, short ribs /mashed potatoes, shrimp n grits. Well done! We will be coming back!”
“One of my favorite hotpot places! As any great hotpot restaurant would, they have a sauce bar with an abundance of options and the sides (like the spicy pig feet) and dessert (coconut sago) is a huge plus! The atmosphere is super fun as well. No wonder they’re such a popular chain in china and one of the biggest names in hotpot there!!!”
“Amazing cocktail bar with great ambiance and drinks! Amazing mixologist at the bar - Matt was very passionate and knowledgeable about his cocktails. We had 6 different cocktails total and all were delicious. The winners for me:- Lost Explorer: if you like mezcal!- Purple Pisco Sour: a little sweeter but the maracuya foam is delish!”
“There is such a chill vibe and multiple spaces to enjoy outdoor RN there's even a doggy parking lot. I love the family nature of this business and it is a black owned family owned business with top quality service and fresh ingredients. I just wish they stayed open longer so I can spend more money with them.”
“Quesabirria is such an amazing gem in Chicago and the Pilsen neighborhood. Don't let Taco Bell fool you, this is the OG here. The owner is always here to take orders. Menu is very straightforward and delicious. There is indoor seating is minimal and when they sell out for the day, that's it so go early and get it when you can. The restroom is clean and they play some funky jams. We really love this place and hope they stay forever. Sitting here on a Sunday when they open at noon writing this makes it that much better!”
“Good pizza for 20 dollars. The owners nice. I’d recommend they offer more deals tho and have events because it can be a pretty busy plaza at times and pizza plus is one of those older but good places. A hole in the wall that has some good food. The meatball sandwich isn’t that good tho. Otherwise it’s a good place.”
