The pizza was good but the chucks parm sandwich got big ratings from our dining companions as they split sandwiches. The half and half was also good.“

“I went here today for lunch. There are so many options at the buffet, even for people or kiddos who don't prefer Chinese food. They have lots of sushi options (which I didn't utilize) but it looked fresh, and also hibachi! They have tons of desserts and a salad bar. “Went to dinner at Uptown last week with a couple of friends, and everything was great as always! The restaurant was pretty busy for a Tuesday night, but we were seated right away without a reservation. Our server, Tracy H, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. Uptown is definitely one of the best restaurants in the Illinois Valley. The food is always consistent, and the service is excellent no matter how busy they are. Whether you're visiting or new to the area, Uptown is a must-try. You won’t be disappointed!“

“Came from Chicago to Starved Rock and tried Sam’s Pizza. We paid 1,500$(discounted from 9,532$) for the most rich and flavorful Cheese Pizza I’ve ever had. Please if you come here respect this man’s craft. He is just one man and he makes the dough and sauce himself. Sam’s a bit hard to understand but he’s hilarious and friendly. Treat Sam as if you were in his home, and enjoy a delicious pizza.“

“As we all know, Rip’s chicken is clearly the BEST. Have you ever thought about ordering Rips as a catering service? Not only was the service great, but the food was amazing. My wedding guests raved about it for weeks. We still hear about how much they loved the food. They make the best homemade Pasta and the chicken, as always was so good. They offered so many different sides to choose from and everything turned out perfectly. They had a nice setup and their girls kept the guest tables clean the entire time they were there. Seriously, by the end of the night I don’t think I saw one plate or empty cup on a single table! The owner works seamlessly with the venue and Rips staff to make sure your dinner services are top notch. I would 10/10 recommend Rip’s Tavern in general, but especially for an event. “Arrived around two o’clock on a Monday afternoon. It was a warm and beautiful fall day so we chose to sit outside. It was busier than normal for a Monday, but we weren’t in a hurry anyway. The wait staff worked hard. I ordered the breaded pork tenderloin. My wife ordered the chicken strips. Each entree came with fries. Mine came with lettuce, onion, tomato slice, and pickles. Unfortunately, there were so many french fries that most of the onion, the slice of tomato, and the pickles were all buried, as you can see in the photo. I didn’t even realize they were there until I had eaten some of the fries. The fries were kind of bland, there was no seasoning on them at all. The breaded pork tenderloin was delicious and quite large. The chicken tenders entree was more than enough for my wife, so we brought it home along with half of the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. Bottom line, I would eat there again, but I only gave it four stars because the french fries covered up the toppings for my sandwich. Attention to detail people!“

“I ordered pepperoni & pineapple pizza at 7:50 pm 4-12-25 for carryout was told 30min & it not only was done right on time :) It was one of the best pizzas we've had omg from the thin thin crust to the ratio & placement of toppings it looked delicious & tasted even better :)
