The Back Door Lounge Reviews
Meg is the best host. She has consistently been a great asset to our hiking community. We plan our trips for when she is bartending and serving. Thanks for her amazing service. We could go to any number of places to eat and drink after our hikes but we choose this one because of the great food and Megs service.
Great atmosphere, used the outside patio which is pet friendly and the staff was accommodating and very friendly! Great variety of food and refreshments at decent prices.
The pot roast was fork tender, good mashed potatoes, gravy was lacking flavor. Coleslaw was basic and creamy. Rolls where great (those came home). Beware of the raspberry brule, it is way too sweet (and this from a sugarhaulic).

The Back Door Lounge is a charming spot with good drinks and outstanding pot roast. The cozy atmosphere by the fire makes it a perfect place to relax after a day of hiking. The $27 spiked cider and pot roast deal is reasonable and highly recommended. Vegetarian options like the portobello sandwich and veggie burger are also available. The lounge offers delicious nachos, with Gonzalo cheese, and s'mores for dessert. The service is generally attentive and friendly, with staff like Alison providing excellent service. The cheese curds are a tasty choice, and the outdoor patio provides a beautiful view. While the food quality may be average at times, the patio and view make it a good spot for a meal after hiking at Matthiessen or Starved Rock. However, service can be slow, and some drinks may be less than perfect, but overall, guests enjoy the atmosphere and experience.
