“This has been a family establishment for us over several generations. Many family members have worked there. We have always enjoyed eating there. The food is delicious and holiday meals are excellent. Thanksgiving day buffet was as good as I can cook at home! Everything was just perfect. They did not overcrowd the seating, which made a very enjoyable evening. The staff has all been very nice and of course, the atmosphere is so cozy.We will continue to eat here for many years to come. Don’t change a thing!“
“Rustic environment with huge fire place. Very comfortable and friendly staff. The food is on the pricey side but if you spend the night that, there is not too many choices nearby. However, Sunday brunch was really good. Lots of choices, made to order omelet, carving station, desserts...“
“The lounge is super cute and drinks are good. I had the pot roast which was outstanding. One of the best I've had. Stacy was my server and she was super sweet and attentive. Took my spiked cider into the lounge and sat in front of the fire. What more do you need on a January day after hiking?? $27 for spiked cider and large serving of pot roast and green beans, reasonable. 10/10 recommend.Vegetarian options: Noticed at least two vegetarians options on the menu. Wasn't looking for them but the portobello sandwich and veggie burger both looked great!“
“The employees are always so friendly and goes out of their way to make sure each of the customer’s have what they need. Restaurant is always clean. The management team makes sure the restaurant is in tip top shape. Also the management has gone above and beyond to make sure our community volunteers are well taken care of and appreciated. Well done Denny’s.“
“The artichoke spinach pasta was really excellent. My New York strip had great seasoning and the side potatoes were unique. However, the steak was order medium rare but arrived medium well and well done in some areas. I still enjoyed my meal and the meat was surprisingly tender for being over cooked. I would definitely come back.“
“Wonderful little restaurant with the perfect name to describe it. Friendly, hard working, amazing owners & staff. They truly make everything with love and it shows. Thank you for all that you do! You are our favorite breakfast/lunch spot! ♥️“
“First time here, we had a delicious lunch! The chicken taco soup was really good. Also tried the grilled ham and Nick which was good, although I love me a good old fashioned hot ham and cheese, the addition of grilled onions and flavored mayo wasn't my favorite. We will definitely goback and try other entrees.“
“The food was great, and our waitress was phenomenal. A relaxing atmosphere. We never waited for anything. From our appetizers to salads and main courses, our food arrived in perfectly spaced times. And our drinks were always full. Love the place.“
“If you're looking for a good hot dog and burger joint, and you're driving past LaSalle, IL on I-80, I would strongly recommend The Dog House. It's basically a carry-out hot dog stand situated right in the middle of Main Street that offers a handful of benches to sit at. Small and family-owned, the service was prompt and friendly. There are thousands of places like this throughout the U.S., so IMO if you want to stand out, you gotta step-up you're game and offer something unique or different. The Dog House has chosen to serve up probably 40 or so different varieties of hot dogs based on cities across the country. Not sure how anyone would substantiate their claim that a hot dog from Fresno would be topped with bacon, tomatoes and cream cheese, but that's not really the point, is it?!? The folks that own this place have either spent a ton of time researching what hot toppings go on their tasty dogs, or they just made some shit up. Either way, it's a super fun way to keep folks coming back and it also guarantees that you won't soon forget your trip to the Dog House. Smart. BTW, for whatever reason, I opted for the Portland Dog - which featured a perfectly cooked hot dog topped with mayo, pickle relish and celery salt. It was fantastic. We also tried a Chicago Style dog, since that's our hometown favorite, and the Dog House nailed it! From the sport peppers, to the celery salt, to the pickle spear... someone did their homework. Well done. We also ordered a double cheeseburger and some cheese fries. Again both were fantastic. Crinkle cut fries cooked perfectly with the processed cheese sauce that one just expects at a spot like this one. The double cheeseburger was a nice surprise. Made to order, the burger pattys were a good size and they were cooked to perfection on the griddle. If I lived any closer to LaSalle, IL this would be a regular stop for me... if only to try all the different types of hot dogs!“
“My husband and I went here for my 30th birthday back in August. We came here again for date night. Great food, great drinks, great service, and the guy behind the bar who made our copper penny dessert is FANTASTIC at mixing drinks. 10/10 will be back again.“
“Great food, great atmosphere and it's an all around quality diner experience. They've got some good people working the floor and some real good cooks whipping up perfection in the back! Never a bad meal ay the country house, they know how to do a diner the right way! Large menu with a bunch of variety. If you get a chance I recommend trying the fajitas from here. 10/10“
“I didn't take pictures this time, but the food was delicious and large portions. We had a group of 16 and everyone highly enjoyed their food! We called in advance for seating, but we didn't order in advance. The waitresses were fast, on top of getting drinks and sauces, and had smiles on their faces the whole time. The food was picture perfect. I really wish I would have taken pictures. We ordered a variety of menu items as they have all day breakfast! So strawberry pancakes, chicken tenders with fries, burgers, Cobb salad, vegetable soup, chicken noodle soup, and more!!“
“This place is really nice. The food was amazing...we got Mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and they were hand battered. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich and fries, both were great. My date got the chicken piccata, which was also so good. For dessert, we tried the homemade tiramisu and that was fantastic...not too sweet. The waitress, McKenzie, was a pleasure...super friendly and fun.“
“I use to take my daughter here every Sunday. Unfortunately we've gone elsewhere due to price increases. $6 for a chocolate milk. I use to be able to leave $30. That covered the bill and a generous tip for a dad and a 7yr old. Now $40 hardly pays the bill and an ok tip.“
“.we got take out... the chops were cold, ,,tough . Awful fake mashed potatoes and gravy was very cold,.. the last time we had BBQ ribs so fatty and cold... And the sauce was bad tasting too. At least the mashed potatoes were real. I will never order from you again.Ed and Mary Dergance“
“We go here quite often in the summer. We live near Chicago but spend many weekends in Ottawa for the river and friends. I actually dream about the Buffalo chicken dip at captains cove during the drive down. It’s often our first stop after we drop the dogs at the boat. It is the best BCD I’ve ever had. Sometimes it’s sold out by the time we get there, it’s THAT good! They have great deals on drinks and the rest of the menu is really yummy. The bartenders are awesome, we have ended up getting to know the family that owns the place and they’re all so kind and love being able to serve delicious food and beverages to their friends and customers. We truly love captains cove and look forward to many more years of great buff chicken dip and giggles!“
“We went early on Saint Patrick's Day. We had the corned beef and cabbage special. It was very good. All the meals that the people around us had looked good. The only complaint I have is a pet peeve of mine. I asked for separate checks, and instead of putting what people ate on their own check. They just added up the total check and divided by three. That means I paid for a third of other people's drinks, etc. Like I said, it's a pet peeve, so most people wouldn't care. In addition, there is a fee to use a credit card...also a pet peeve. If I'm in the area and hungry, I would go again, but this is over an hour drive from my house.“
“The new restaurant Waves is awesome! The owners can't be nicer. The best italian bread in the entire Illinois Valley area made fresh daily. The Italian beef is to die for. Just as good as Chicago's. The Cobb salad has real bacon. Can't stay enough about the banana pudding. Must try it. We'll definitely be back.“
“You would never expect this establishment in North-Central Illinois to be a "destination"...but, set your GPS, wind through the streets of LaSalle, and be open to a great service and great food! Be sure to ask if Owner John is there (I bet he always is if he didn't already find you) and ask him about the specials (and maybe anything else he has been cooking up in the kitchen). We randomly found 9th Street Pub after touring the City of LaSalle's Celebration of Lights (another new tradition) on our way home to Bloomington. While I was definitely not totally sold on the bar setting (especially with our 13 y/o daughter with us), John greeted us right away and made us feel welcome with his hospitality and insight into the menu. We all got delicious apps, me a Reuben (which was awesome and a true classic - not typical bar food), and my wife got a short-rib special (that you won't find anywhere else in a Pub)!! My wife and I will be back for sure - when we can have a few drinks, play some video poker or pool/darts, and maybe get lucky to have a DJ spinning - like who was setting-up on that random night at 9th Street Pub! Best wishes in 2024, John and 9th Street!“
“This is a very warm and inviting neighborhood bar atmosphere. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich and the bourbon burger and both were cooked to perfection. Very generous portions with french fries. You will not leave hungry we will be back.“
“Family gathering to celebrate a birthday with a nice dinner. The waitress was amazing and consistently making sure all guests were taken care of. The food was prompt after appetizers. The drinks were continuously refilled. She always wore a smile. The food was delicious and satisfying. I personally had to take home leftovers.“
“This was a hidden treasure of a restaurant with a bar area. We were greeted as we entered the door and the hostess told us to sit wherever we liked. We ordered the soup and salad bar. It was very nice assortment of dishes with mushroom soup. I had the Grecian style white fish, which was outstanding. My guest had the fried chicken and ribs, which were also very good. The salad bar also came with pineapple cake which reminded me of home. The service was excellent. The staff was great, they made you feel special. Give this place a try if you are in the Peru area and looking for a great place for dinner, you will not be disappointed.“
“Listen I literally dream about the sandwiches from this place. I mean it when I say they make the best sandwiches. Haven’t been able to have one since the pandemic but I know one day soon I’ll be blessed driving by and see their open sign and have time to stop in and grab an all American sub with a cup of whatever delicious soup they are serving that day. And on that day god will have smiled down on me because I truly believe all anybody wants in the world is to sit in silence and eat a good sandwich. And this is that sandwich babe.“
“Never thought that online trading could be so helpful because of so many scammers online until I met Mrs Patience Adamson, who changed my life and that of my family. I invested $1000 and got $11,670 Within a week. she is an expert and also proven to be trustworthy and reliable. Contact her via:“
“The burger, tenderloin, fries are all amazing!!!! Gonna have to come back to try more off the menu! Stopped in here after a day of hiking at Starved Rock and it was absolutely amazing! I got a burger and fries, my gf got a tenderloin. We cut both sandwiches in half and did what we call “splitskeys” so we could both try the burger and tenderloin. Fantastic. Both are massive, the burger was a single 3/4#! Great service, sat ourselves right away after walking in and waitress was there within a minute. Very reasonable prices, gonna try the jumbo wings next! Family friendly atmosphere, plenty of space inside and the tables aren’t jammed in too closely. I highly recommend Skoogs, you should try it, you won’t regret it!“
“Ashanti was so kind and chatted with me! Coming up alone, with kids, is overwhelming and Ashanti made it easy going for me. I could have chatted longer! You've got a great person working for you and I hope you know that! Thanks Ashanti!“
“Excellent fried chicken! We were seated and served very quickly. Prices were decent. Can't even express how good the chicken was.. server got a huge tip because she was on top of everything. Wish I would have got her name to leave in this review.“
“What a pleasant surprise. Tucked in Water Street along the river. We stopped in for a late lunch and started off with the breaded cauliflower. It was exceptional and did not need any dipping sauce. The cook knows how to cook. My wife had the chicken parm sandwich. Grilled. It was a huge piece of chicken and she said she is going to eat it all because it was so good. I had the cod nuggets, french fries, and coleslaw. The cod was really good. Large chunks and the breading was perfect. Light and not heavy. Coleslaw was homemade and was also very, very good. Service was excellent. No waiting on refills. Our waitress had a great personality. The inside was very welcoming. Lots of television everywhere. Nice music playing in the background. We will definitely come back again. Top notch. Separate bar and dining room.“
“Nice little restaurant with an enormous menu. Mexican food and farm style dishes are all over this menu. Ordered the chicken strips dinner and it was enough for two people. The strips were almost like full chicken breasts and the breading was amazing!! Will definitely stop in again if I'm in the area.“
“Only thing I can really recommend is the rootbeer itself. All ice cream including floats are all soft serve. Food isn't bad but not worth writing home about.Kid-friendliness: Staff is very friendly and the whole place is ment for families.“
