“Highly recommend! Good food that 3 generations of Desi immigrants approve of, from those born in colonial India, to post partition Pakistanis, to American-Born little ones. Suits all palates.
All food was good but saag paneer in particular was the bomb. So was nihari (authentic!). Elachi chai was great , too. Very clean, down to the bathroom. Kind service.“

“Update: I’ve been going here for many years, with longer hours now and a remodeled and much larger dining area that looks and feels pleasant, they’ve really been doing a great job! Quality is consistent and always tastes great. Very fresh and lots of healthy options that taste great! Cannot recommend this place enough.

“I'm a local, plain old Americana fellow. Decided to try some new food to change things up, Bab Alsalam was the place and I felt no need to try another due to the warm and welcoming service, and on point food. Eventually tried a couple other shawarma places and they were solid, but this place is the place to go“

“I don’t always write reviews but when I do it’s because I’m impressed or disappointed. I ordered for to go. I had the grilled platter. Rice two kind, beef I think or lamb, chicken and kafta. Everything was delicious. Chicken was the best it was soft inside and just fall apart in the mouth. Hummus was great not too strong not too salty. Fattoush salad was also great. Overall I would recommend as a place to go for a quick middle eastern bite.“

I tried the chicken kebab, and it was amazing - very flavorful, juicy, and different from what I've had at other places. You can tell the food is freshly prepared. Definitely recommend

“Atmosphere wise, its just a small strip mall food place, so nothing crazy, but it is still very nice inside.
I got a beef and chicken shawarma platter. The beef was very tasty, and the chicken was also delicious. A lot of rice also. Couldn’t finish it all, very much worth the price.“

“One of the best restaurants in Chicago! The lunch special is my favorite - the most flavorful kabobs and rice (I upgrade to the Kabuli style rice). I also love the Kabuli Palaw (lamb shank). Service is always efficient and friendly. Afghan Kabob is worth a visit even if you're not in the area!“

“I love the Beef Swarma Entree when you substitute Hummus for the rice. The Cucumber and Tomato salad which comes with it is also excellent. You also get a piece of Pita Bread with the Entree. Also try their Baklava variety pack. Really great selection of different types of Baklava.“

“The food here is fantastic, except for the fries which are really thick potato slices. They used to have the best thin, crispy fries (chips) but no more. Hence the reason for only 4-stars.
The lady working was very friendly, making me feel like I was a regular despite it being my first visit to this location. The food was hot, fresh, as ordered and most importantly, delicious. The in-house baked pitas are like eating a cloud of heaven.“

“It is my MUST EAT restaurant once I make it to Chicago. This was my first visit to the branch. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and helpful. Food & service is very good and quick.
I ordered MANSAF, because it is made only on FRIDAYS. The cold appetizers and freshly baked bread made my day 😊. Food portion is good value. Upon checking out, we were served complimentary arabic coffee— that taste like home“

“I found this place completely by accident while searching on Google for a place to smoke hookah. I was truly impressed by the hospitality, the excellent service, and the delicious hookah.
I ordered tea and a hookah, but the waiter told me the tea would be complimentary. That kind and thoughtful gesture really touched me, and it made me decide to order some food to go as well.
Thank you so much for reminding me that there are still such genuinely kind and welcoming people in this world. ❤ I will definitely come back and not just once!“

“Okay, this place was awesome. Not just for airport food, but just in general, the steak in my steak bowl was fresh, the guy behind the counter was super nice, and my fiancée's falafel bowl was great too! Honestly above all the good service won me over, the guy working at 1:20pm 1/16/2025 was 5 stars!“
