“Very friendly clean place. Great deal on MOnday Burger meal -$6.00. Fries are to die for. Sit near the bar area very relaxing . If you have a hearing impairment request that area. Little easier to hear than in the bigger room which has more echo . I was very impressed. Went back two days later. Two thumbs up!!!!

I love the owner and staff and how hard they work to serve good food in a welcoming atmosphere. Some of my favorite dishes include the pickle soup, garlic salad, salmon sandwich, meatloaf, lobster bisque, Reuben sandwich, orange crepes, and (right now) the crawfish Étouffée. I love the local beer and wine selection as well as Mandy’s bloody marys. This is such a special restaurant and I’m so glad it is a part of our community.“

“Stayed in the QC last night, up from Florida, and drove by this place late evening.... Decided to stop in and give it a try .... It was WONDERFUL!! .... I arrived and the place was PACKED!! .... Only a short wait to be seated ... The staff work as a great team helping each other out ... Food was brought pretty quickly considering how busy they were .... Got the farmers omelet and pancakes in place of the toast ... Look at those pancakes ... Light, fluffy, and the syrup was even warm .... The omelet was equally good ... “We were out on the Channel Cat Water Taxi and stopped in the Village of East Davenport. After walking around the village shops we found Brew. What a great pub and place to grab a bite. The food was simply fantastic and our waitress was helpful at guiding us through their several selections of brew. We sat outside since the weather was nice. Prices seemed reasonable and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back in the future.

Parking: Parking during seasonal events may be difficult. During regular business hours there was plenty of on street parking.“

“When we were driving through Iowa, we were told we had to have a maid-rite. So we did, this restaurant was in a convenient location for us. We loved the doner atmosphere, and we were surprised they have a lot of different choices. We ordered the Cheese-Rite and the Maid-rite chili shoe. The order came out quick, hot, and tasted good. Next time, I will need to try an appetizer and a shake cause they looked good.“

Server Julian did a great job in providing hreat service!! “I moved to Rock Island 2 months ago meaning I had to find a new favorite Chinese Restaurant near me. I tried a few nearby and was getting worried because the I found were at most, mediocre. Then one day I stopped here to get some Egg Drop Soup for my sick boyfriend.I love Egg Drop Soup when I am ill so I figured he would too, but luckily for me, that was not his thing so I was able to consume it. It was spectacular.I returned to grab some dinner about a week or so later so I could see if the meals were as good as the soup. This time, I came home with Szechuan Shrimp. That is an old favorite but ever since the old Dragon House in Davenport closed, I had yet to find a place that could compare to their version. Until now! I devoured the meal entirely which is very unusual but I ate every bite as my other half watched in amazement at how food could send his girlfriend into such euphoria.Then, our roommate and I headed up to the place again the other night. We each purchased a meal, soup and some fired wontons. We took it home and another homer with the food.Oriental express has now officially become my go-to for Chinese cuisine. The other places in the neighborhood are not horrible, it is just that they cannot match the food perfection nor are they nearly as friendly as the beautiful girl who has waited on me every time. She is amazing herself.I do not know what the plans are for the dining room here. It is hidden by plastic tarps hanging and that does give the place a very odd "ambiance". I hope that is not a permanent look for them but even if it is, I will still get my Chinese cravings satisfied here. I recommend you do the same!“

“We were seated very quickly and the waitress came out in about 5 minutes, took our drink order, brought it in about 10 but NEVER seen her again. Finally after 30 minutes of waiting we asked for a new server. They moved us to a new server and he was fantastic (wish I could remember his name). The sad part is the waitress didn’t have many tables and just kept disappearing. Anyways, she lost out on a $65 dollar tip. My husband had the meatloaf and said it was horrible!!! And he eats anything! River House has gone downhill since we were last there about year and half ago. No wonder they weren’t that busy last night and we got seated immediately“

“Place not as clean as I would expect a restaurant to be. Got there at 6:30 and already out of zucchini noodles. Many food containers on buffet had other pieces of food in them and sauce area was a mess. Don't anticipate we will be back.“

I say most because I haven't tried it all. There are so many options, and the best part is that this place is kid friendly. However, they create a show with fire, and you can feel the heat. If you're sensitive, you may want to avoid it. Now, the bad. The restaurant is in desperate need of renovations or upgrades. It looks a bit rundown in some areas, including the entrance. It's pretty much laid out like it was as a Chinese restaurant when I was a kid 30 years ago. The sake is ok, tastes a little watered down. There's a lot to love here, but first impressions go a long way. Keep going in, you'll find the diamond in the rough around the hibachi grills.
