Based on the reviews, Espresso Royale Cafe on Oregon Street is a favorite coffee shop on campus with a warm cave vibe, located by the performing arts center with Krannert views. The coffee is great, with a dark roast drip coffee that is deliciously bold and liquid magma hot, and a double espresso with a great balance of sour, nutty, and rich. They offer non-dairy specialty coffee, like the delicious Caramel Oat Toffee, and a very good matcha. For food, the muffins and danishes are spectacular, the blueberry muffin is good, and the best scone in years is available, especially with a large honeyed tea latte. The drinks can run quite large, making it good for a sweet treat all day. However, the drinks are pricey with long wait times, though customers can skip the line with app ordering. Service is friendly when packed, and there is ample seating.
