Do not come here if you are young. If how we were treated was somehow not intentional, then it instead speaks to an even higher level of incompetency. I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. I don't think l've ever written a review but how we were treated compelled me to post. Our waiter, Benjamin, would serve the tables next to us and walk away while we were sitting there. We had to stare him down when he was helping the adjacent tables just for him to approach. When he brought our appetizers, no plates were provided, leading to us eating bread over the table cloth. No new cutlery was supplied when the entrees came out, and our water pitcher was taken and not refilled until blatantly asked. I really am not a difficult customer. These things would not have bothered me if we didn't become cognizant to the fact that the tables next to us were provided all of the above without asking by the same server. They were also helped at a cadence far quicker than our, and I can't overstate this, comedically slow service. When he came up he'd say only a few words and never asked how the food was. We were probably the youngest in the restaurant, and the way we were treated can only be explained by an assumption based on our age. The food was good, and the rest of the staff at Aboyer that night was more than friendly and ready to assist. This review likely would not have been made if anyone else was our server.

Fabulous restaurant! Appetizers, dinner were outstanding, chef is truly talented. We had a table of six and the wait staff was attentive and efficient. Atmosphere is cozy and tasteful. Reasonably priced for the superior menu and quality of our dinners. Will definitely visit again!!

What a find! I felt like I was in Paris. Authentic Modern French with delicious cocktails and food. Room and service — beautiful and comfortable, attentive unpretentious service. Look forward to returning, I could easily become a regular. Bar dining a plus too.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Aboyer Bistro, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.
Sergio and Jr. were on point! From the moment we arrived, they took great care of me—clearly explaining the menu and wine pairings. The service was impeccable.”
I began with the smoked salmon plate, which was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite was perfectly balanced and set the tone for what was to come.
Next was the truffle potato soup… and honestly, I was speechless. It was rich, velvety, and deeply comforting with just the right touch of truffle — indulgent without being overpowering.
For my entrée, I had the Prime steak frites, cooked to perfection and literally melting in my mouth. The steak was tender and flavorful, paired wonderfully with crisp frites. The haricots verts added a fresh, vibrant contrast, and the silky pommes purée? Oh my goodness — pure perfection and absolutely to die for.
To finish, I enjoyed the lemon mascarpone cheesecake, which was the perfect ending to an extraordinary meal. Light, creamy, and just the right amount of citrus to leave a refreshing final impression.
Aboyer Bistro delivers elegance, flavor, and flawless execution in every dish. I can’t wait to return.

I ate at Aboyer earlier this week and what can I say. Sergio greeted us with a welcoming kind smile and led us to our table and to our surprise our server was his son Jr. OMG the Country Pate and the Chicken Liver Mousse, I would push someone down a flight of stairs to get these in my belly. Of course, I ordered what I consider to be the king of salads the Salade Lyonnaise, come on, Frisee tossed in a beautiful vinaigrette with Bacon, croutons and a poached egg (its like breakfast meets a salad and said lets make a love child). Moving on I chose the French Dip, what can I say this was perfect for me, I just could have used more blue cheese (I ask for some extra, which Jr. graciously brings me a bit more). I didn’t have enough room for Dessert because I already ate way too much but I had my eye on the Financier de Saison and will have to come back for. Finally a heartfelt Thank you to the Aboyer Team for making me feel both welcomed and fulfilled. I’ll be seeing you.

We went in for the Valentine’s dinner and had a really great experience overall. The menu was well thought out, everything was paced nicely, and it felt like a step above the usual “special menu” you sometimes get on holidays. Chef Michael really hit it out of the park, and Sergio was charming as ever, which made the night feel relaxed and genuinely enjoyable.
We started with the scampi Provençal and the potato truffle soup. The scampi were cooked perfectly and had great flavor, and the creamy goat cheese polenta underneath was a nice, rich base without being too heavy. The crispy leeks added a good crunch. The potato truffle soup was smooth, comforting, and nicely balanced—not overpowering on the truffle, which we appreciated.
For mains, we shared the Dover sole and the duo of chateaubriand. The Dover sole was light, delicate, and really well done—simple and clean flavors that let the fish shine. The chateaubriand was the opposite in a good way: rich, hearty, and very satisfying. The tenderloin was cooked beautifully, and the short rib raviolo added a lot of depth and flavor to the dish.
Dessert was a strong finish. The chocolate soufflé was warm, light, and full of chocolate flavor, and the raspberry sauce worked really well with it. The poached pear financier was also a nice change of pace—warm, not too sweet, and the gelato and mousse on the side made it feel a little more special without being over the top.
Overall, it was just a really enjoyable dinner. The food was consistently good across all courses, the service was friendly and professional, and it felt like a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. We’d absolutely go back for something like this again.

We recently visited for a date night, and the entire experience was exceptional. Sergio welcomed us with genuine warmth, and the ambience set the perfect tone for the evening. We began with the potato truffle soup topped with crispy onions—absolutely magnificent. My husband ordered the steak frites, and I chose the salmon; both dishes were beautifully prepared and delicious. Our server, Junior, was attentive, polite, and wonderfully accommodating.
We happily drive more than 50 miles to dine at this gem, and it never disappoints. Highly recommended!

What an incredible dining experiences at Aboyer! Every item from appetizers to main course to desserts to specialty cocktails are a flavorful delicacy. And the wine selection is stellar. Service is always top notch. From Sergio at the front greeting and seating, and every wait staff member, especially a seasoned waiter, Alfredo, who I have had the pleasure of having at my table many times, is impeccable. And I have had the pleasure of attending private events at Aboyer, and have been just as impressed by the cuisine and service. Chef and proprietor Micheal Lachowicz and staff continue to create French culinary magic on Green Bay Road in Winnetka.

Wanted so badly to like this place a lot more than I did, but it was truly the wait times that I need to address.
We had a reservation at 6:30 for Valentine’s Day and the menu was similar to a restaurant week— set dishes and the server preferred we ordered everything at once which was fine. Took a while to get drinks and the appetizers but we understood they were busy so we just enjoyed the ambience and conversation. We found it odd, however, that tables to the left and right of us were already receiving and finishing their entrees… I called our server over and asked how long we may have to wait for and to be honest, he seemed a little frazzled. Timing between appetizer and entree took 45 minutes.
By the time we got the entree got to us, the two parties next to us had already gotten their checks and left. All was forgotten momentarily since the dishes were delicious. But then another 40 minutes had passed and still no dessert. We again, called our server over and he also told us they had run out of our choices and had to be substituted with crème brûlées. A little odd, since we had ordered them two hours ago but sure… then waited another 15 minutes for the dessert. At the point I just wanted the check and to leave.
In total we spent over $230 for all of this. And three hours there. Really good food, not worth taking that long, especially even more frustrating seeing we were not attended to and some others were. Probably won’t be coming back.

Had a very disappointing Valentine’s Day dinner here. Arrived at 7:30 pm for our reservation and our table wasn’t ready. There were about 15-20 more people waiting for their table. There were no benches or chairs to sit and the bar was full, so all the ladies had to stand for at least 30 minutes wearing heals. After about 25 minutes of standing we were able to grab two chair at the bar, but no one served us any drinks or even acknowledged us. We got our table at around 8:10. I saw that many tables had bread and butter but no one brought it to our table. We were also told that they ran out of a dessert and switched it to a creme brulee. The service took a very long time, we were waiting for 40 minutes between appetizers, the main and dessert. The kitchen was clearly overwhelmed. I got a smoked salmon for my appetizer and it was incredibly disappointing, it was something I make at home for breakfast, just a piece of toast with store bought smocked salmon and some cream. My main was Dover sole and it had zero flavor, zero color and the presentation was really lacking. By the time we were ready to eat the dessert they ran out of crème brûlée as well so the only option was a chocolate dessert and neither of us like chocolate. I’ve been to many French restaurants in the USA, Switzerland and France, and this is by far the worst food and experience I’ve had. They knew exactly how many people are going to be at their restaurant, so how come do you run out of things by 7 pm? Overall it took us three hours to eat, we paid $350 and left very disappointed.
