Based on customer reviews, El Jimador #3 | Mexican is a favorite Mexican restaurant in Northwest Indiana, often called the best darned Mexican restaurant in NW Indiana. The food comes out hot and fresh, with good salsa and fresh chips on the table. The prices are fairly cheap with large portions, and the taco meats are pretty good with well-seasoned beef. However, experiences are mixed. The service is often lacking, with waitresses taking orders and then disappearing until delivering the bill. Customers report having to flag someone down for water refills or missing items. Some visits have seen hard tortillas and blended beans that lack pieces. The restaurant can get busy, and on hot days, the temperature inside is uncomfortable because they don’t own the building. While some visits have had top-notch service and food, recent trips have shown that food quality and service have gone down since opening, with no more Taco Tuesday. Despite this, many highly recommend it and consider it as close to being in Mexico.
