“This was my first time visiting Cup of Joy... I absolutely LOVED everything about this coffee shop. Looks are deceiving... I originally thought it would be small inside ~ boy was I wrong! So spacious and comfy...with a warm and inviting atmosphere! I can't wait to go back. ?”

“Love this place. Atmosphere is nice for either a romantic date night or a little earlier with the kids. Their signature drinks are strong, creative, and tasty. This is our second time eating there and both times the food was delicious. Our servers both times were very nice and accommodating. The pretzel appetizer was hot and the cheese sauce was delicious. The barbeque pulled pork sandwich was also yummy with crumbled fried onions amd coleslaw on top with a pretzel bun. I had the ember salad with the raspberry vinaigrette and myself and the kids couldn't stop eating it. Their street corn chili soup was to die for. Even my picky toddler loved it. They also make an amazing grilled cheese for kids if requested which has been a hit.Definately recommend giving this place a try if ever passing through or in the area. All of that and my husband's beef sandwich meal and a few craft beers for 70 dollars which is reasonably priced nowadays.”

“We never got the chance to eat here but I did want to write a review. 2 years ago my father in law got lost in your little town which is an hour away from where we live. Jim's Cafe allowed him to leave his car there until we were able to get a tow. The day we arrived was Valentines Day and it was negative 13 degrees. The cafe was closed but when we pulled in we both noticed that the place was named after my father who passed away 6 years prior and my niece who passed away at birth was part of your address. 4.5 months ago my father in law passed away. We felt the need to drive to see this cafe. We drove an hour on saturday and sadly it was closed. Everything we read on the internet said it was open til 2. We arrived at 12:30 and it was closed. The sign said 12. We were heartbroken. We just wanted to say THANK YOU and see why of all the places in town and my father in laws journey did this place be the place he safely ended up at.”

“The food was very good and plenty of it. The service was good the wait time was not that long for the food to be ordered and then brought to the table. About the same as most site down and order fresh food restaurants. The restaurant side was set up with colorful pictures of Mexican street scenes. Booths and tables and chairs. Nice grocery's of Mexican foods offered.”

“Hole in the wall with very good authentic food but the service lacks a lot!!!! The server was nice enough but clearly didn’t understand the service part of the job, not being able to answer simple questions about menu items to not providing items we asked for until well into the meal… but not the end of the world, still worth the visit.”

“Probably the last review they'll ever get considering they're now permanently closed. Best small town soft serve spot I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. On a warm summer night you could be sure of seeing at least a 1/4 of the town visiting. Guess they couldn't compete against the big boys and had to close up shop. A true gem in Rensselaer. Hope they make a come back one day.”
“Classic small town dive. I'm from Chicagoland, they have authentic Chicago dogs, Italian beef sammiches, and root beer floats. Cheap fries, cheese fries, chili dogs, good pizza(ain't Chicago but it's good sober or not). Wide variety of beverages. Bartender Tina made a really good hot chocolate with whipped cream on a cold, bad night!!NO LIQUOR. Can smoke and vape. Outdoor patio if you want to go outside. Dart games any day, League comes out Wednesday. Pool league, Tuesdays. Pool 75¢. Touchtunes with a new jukebox. Well lit, ambient. Newcomers, remember this is the country. DOG FRIENDLY. So long as your dog loves people or is trained.”
“The hunger I had, mixed with the anticipation of trying this establishment, got me ready to try plenty of things!I walked inside with my significant other and we were quickly helped. We were told to pick our table, so that was cool. We chose a table towards the back. They definitely had a lot of options to choose from. I ordered a Diet Pepsi and a Scratch Made Soup to start with. The soup was chicken noodle and it came in a Bowl. We ended up choosing two items to share, since it was a hard decision. For the first, we chose from the 1/3 lb. Burgers list and went with Fenwick’s Finest. It came with Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Pickle. We got to choose the cheese, so we went with American. We had it cooked medium. It included Chips. For the second item, we chose from one of their Mouth-Watering Entrées. The 6 Oz. Filet was our choice. It was a Center-Cut Beef Filet and we had it cooked medium rare. It came with Choice Of 2 Sides. We chose Fries (Ranch) and Onion Rings. The Diet Pepsi was awesome and came with free refills. The soup was alright, but not worth the price in my opinion. The burger was cooked nicely and was tasty with all of the toppings. The chips were a bag of Kettle Cooked Potato Chips Regular and they weren’t too bad. The filet was cooked great and tasted fresh. I wish it was bigger for the price, though. The fries were oddly my favorite item of the night. I couldn’t stop eating them, until they were gone of course. The onion rings were excellent. The batter brought the flavor alive!I tried quite a few drinks throughout my visit. I tried a small Bravo 4 - Fenwick’s. This one was an APA. It was a smooth brew and a great start. I had a small Hub & Spoke - Fenwick’s. This one was an American Lite Lager. To me, it was very similar to the Bravo 4, but it had a healthy crisp to it. It was still enjoyable. I tried a small Bomber Blonde - Fenwick’s. This one was a Blonde Ale. It was definitely my least favorite drink. I gulped it down just to finish it. I wouldn’t drink it again. Besides those brews, I tried out a Whiskey Smash. It was made with Fenwick’s Wheat Whiskey. It was a hardcore drink in my opinion and it was blended very well to still expose the whiskey in each sip. I enjoyed it throughout my session here. For the last drink I tried, I went with a Lemon Drop. This one had Fenwick’s Vodka. I can’t say I love vodka, but this drink was rather smooth and provided a nice finish to the experience. This drink was tasty, but probably a one-time thing for me.The server was fast and attentive. She refilled my Diet Pepsi before I could even finish it each time, so that was awesome. We didn’t have to wait too long for her to bring us anything.Overall, this place sure did deliver a fantastic experience. Some of the items had too high of a price. I was still pleasantly impressed! If I’m in the area in the future, I might explore the menu a bit more.Date of visit: Feb 29, 2024”
“The BEST tamales ever!! Whenever we travel to this area we make sure we put Mi Tierra on our list of places that we must stop at. We have had both the chicken and the pork tamales, both are just as good as the other.”

“My step-brothers, dad, used to live down the street and we would pop in there to surprise him when we got a ride down that way. Everybody at that bar was friendly, knowing we was only teenagers at the time, they would offer us food and pop at a side table, then boot us out afterwards. But it was all in fun, kinda one of the rights of passage back then. I would like to pop in again sometime. Almost 30 yrs later, I think I might be old enough to stick around this time lol.”

“3/9/24- We came here to eat on a recommendation from a friend. I was happy we stopped by because the food is delicious ?The place was busy but there were a lot of tables available. The place is big and it has a hall. No matter when you go you'll find a seat.We had Horchata and Cherry Pepsi which they make with grenadine. I am sure any of the other drinks are just as good. The Horchata is homemade so you're not cheated on taste. They bring you chips and salsa and they are not stingy. We had five kids and two adults and plenty of chips to hold us over. The food is made while you wait. The combo choices are big and filling. I had the beans, rice, carnitas taco, green tamale, chicken enchilada and they all had meat. We ordered an Albondiga soup and it was home made with tortillas. My wife ordered the Chimichanga and it came with beans and rice. The kids had quesadillas, chicken tacos, chicken enchiladas, and fries or choice of beans and rice. So kids don't get cheated. It's in a small town with great history. We found out it has been there for 20 years. The parent's owned it and it has a family atmosphere. We will return and enjoy our new favorite Mexican restaurant, Ayda's!Kid-friendliness: There's a good kid menu and it had a few choices. We took our kids and all five ordered something different.”

“If you're coming from the south towards Chicago, don't miss this place. A very atmospheric place. The building and hall are stylized in farm style. The presentation of some dishes may seem unusual due to the style, but this does not in any way affect the delicious taste sensations.”
