“Food was amazing! The serving sizes of the food was large & plenty for the price. Fairly priced & reasonable. Worth the wait time!“

“There’s not many West African restaurants where I live on the west coast, so decided to try take out from here during a layover in Indianapolis. This was my first time ever trying West African cuisine, and it felt like unearthing a treasure chest 😆. I’m in love with the bold spices (scotch bonnet?) and bases (hints of an umami seafood-y base?) in the stew (it was unexpectedly spicy and oily for me as a first timer but I love it all the same!). I got the pounded yam (iyan) with okra stew (okro/alasepo) with beef and goat. Was really eager to try the texture of the iyan, and it’s perfectly soft but stretchy. Now hoping I can find similar restaurants back home where I live 🤔. It’s a really unique flavor for me.“

“The best suya spot in Indy. Very lean suya and not too much fat. I’ve tried suya in other cities like Dallas and Houston, but I love the suya here the most. For $20 it’s worth it, would love if they could increase the quantity a bit more though. But amazing flavor.“

“We were kindly welcomed in by the staff and they helped us find some great dishes to try, as we never had this cuisine before. We ordered egusi soup with fufu and chicken and a side of oxtails. While everything was delicious, I'd say the ox tails were the true star of the show! Will absolutely visit again soon!“

“My husband and I came to Barako for a late lunch and was greeted and seated at a table. I ordered the meat and rice dish and my husband ordered chicken and chapati dish. The food came out fast (5-10min) with a side of salad and a banana. The portions are very large, at least 2 people can eat from it. The food was SO good, this was my first time having Somali food and I loved it. My husband felt the same. The workers were very polite and gave such good hospitality. They even gave us a cup of their tea on the house and it was amazing too perfectly sweetened with a great cardamom flavor. Alhamdulilah it was great food and the people at this restaurant are so nice. It’s a simple layout for tables, which is fine for us. I would recommend to come here again! For parking, you must go down the dirt lot past the semi trucks to find this restaurant.“
